ABC News Investigation: USA Swimming Coaches Molested, Secretly Taped Dozens of Teen Swimmers

abcnews.go.com

In a sex abuse scandal that some victims compare to what happened in the Catholic Church, at least 36 swimming coaches have been banned for life by the USA Swimming organization over the last 10 years because of sexual misconduct with teenagers they coached.
Brian Ross investigates on 20/20, Tonight 10/9c.

The coaches have molested, fondled and abused dozens of swimmers, according to court records and interviews conducted by ABC News for reports Friday on "World News with Diane Sawyer" and "20/20."

FBI agents became aware of the pictures after a North Carolina woman bought the coach's computer on E-Bay and discovered a video clip of a young girl in a locker room appearing to be taped without her knowledge. A subsequent search of Hindson's home turned up more locker room footage and a large selection of child pornography. Looks like this has been going on a long time . Always remember your sins will search you out. You would think you had some privacy , but not anymore apparently.

Well seeing chicks hunched over in swimsuits every day might get some people hot, and 17 year olds are still underage, and therefore CP.

A relationship between a 17 year old and an adult would be fine in my book.

Now, after seeming to defend the actions of these coaches I will pull a 180.
Filming anyone in the locker room without their consent, regardless of age, constitutes as a peeping tom, and should be treated as such. The coaches that took part in this should be jailed pure and simple if the facts show that such things took place.

You got 3 possible crimes here
1) underage...teen pre-18 is as mentioned, still CP...even if its 10 minutes before the magical 18th birthday. This will land the person some probation
2) You got the peeping charge..that will land them in hot water also
3) The new video voyeur or whatnot law...

the coach in question is looking at a couple years and alot of public humiliation.

SnF OP

Another story of TPTB won't allow children be children. Taking videos in changing rooms is just wrong. Molesting young people is totally wrong. I would never blame a parent for beating to death one of these abusers if they molested their child. You cannot trust the system by reporting these actions as nothing happens and the system closes ranks as the Catholic church has over the years. It is time something is done to set an example as the example right now " It is cool to do this and we can do this and nobody will do anything."

A new example needs to be set for our children's sake!

Thank you for posting this thread. Wake up people talk to your children!!!!!

This is not about an type of "relationship".

It is about being physically molested, groped, or secretly filmed.

The guy is simply a pervert, a menace to society, and should be locked up.

Hi!

Sorry - and this is a conspiracy? This is Above Top Secret?

Thought it was hormonal.

And why for heaven's sakes is it 18 in the US when you can be sent to war, drive a car and kill people...own a gun and kill people...?

What feigned outrage this board sometimes has...

Peace! (and understanding)

ABC news:

Still, another one of Hindson's victims, Sarah Rutkowski, now 21, said there are many questions left unanswered. "I'd really like to know how he did it and where the videos have ended up, if they're on the internet or if he put them through Limewire or if they were just sitting around for his personal use," Rutkowski, who is believed to have been 12 or 13 when she was taped, told ABC News. "That's really disturbing to me, not knowing where those videos are."
Ya I think this qualifies . Please read article.

Speaking from the perspective of biology...

All human beings have a drive to procreate. This is the purpose of sex, and sexual attraction.

Many of the people born to western culture have been indoctrinated to believe that sex is wrong, taboo, immoral, etc... and although they still desire it, the way their desire is manifest becomes something that is distorted and expressed in less-than-healthy ways.

Some men who haven't achieved sexual satisfaction in their youth (where it's supposed to happen) continue to try to achieve it through clandestine ways as they grow older. Although this isn't normal, it's to be expected.

A man who has a healthy sex life with a partner they truly feel attracted to doesn't do these kinds of things.

Rather than seeing this as evidence of a crime, how about looking at it from the perspective of the bizarre distortion that western culture has placed on human sexuality, and one of the side-effects of this unnatural disposition?

When I was a kid, I was told sex was wrong, wrong, wrong, before marriage. Then, as an adult I didn't know what do do with myself, or women when the time came. It took a few years to sort things out.

I can see and understand why some men do these things. Although it is easy to blame them, I say that the cultural influences we grow up in are also a factor.

Never would I condone the abuse of someone, especially a child. But these kinds of things are almost unheard of in cultures where sex isn't seen as dirty, sinful, or something that is to be only experienced in the context of an approved union supervised by government authority and lawyers.

In some places around the world, children are permitted to play with each other sexually and it is considered natural. Babies are hung over their mother's backs while they work so that the child is always in constant contact. Kisses are given to members of your community, on both cheeks, and sexuality is seen as a celebration and expression of life.

It is also interesting to notice that in these types of cultures, violence is almost a non-issue.

We really need to take a step back and take a hard look at what kind of circumstances foster this kind of behavior in individuals, rather than focusing on the individuals themselves.

Meanwhile, I think these people need counseling, wholesome advice, direction, and education... not jailtime.

Perverted sexual behavior is an expression of perverted sexual education.
