The mysterious 'Third Party' who is central to the events leading up to Helena's departute from Cabinet and Caucus may have been revealed in this story regarding the refusal of Ms, dawson, the Federal Ethics Commissioner, to handle the case.

Meanwhile, CTV reported Tuesday night that the third party who uncovered the allegations that led Mr. Harper to drop Helena Guergis from the caucus is a private investigator. Police sources say the licensed private eye contacted a Conservative Party lawyer in Toronto, and expressed concern about a potential threat of blackmail arising from allegations about the purchase and use of drugs.

It hasn't been confirmed who may have bought or used the drugs, CTV said, or who the target of blackmail was. When the party lawyer received the information, CTV reported, he immediately alerted the Prime Minister.

Details revealed in Jaffer plea deal

The Crown felt it had no choice but to drop charges of coc aine possession and drunk driving against former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer in favour of a guilty plea on a lesser charge, due to how police handled the case, CBC News has learned.

According to sources close to the case, police made two fateful decisions: repeatedly denying Jaffer access to his own lawyers and a strip search after he was pulled over on a rural road on Sept. 11 in the southern Ontario community of Palgrave, northwest of Toronto. www.cbc.ca...

Forgive the apparent schadenfreude, but this all looks good on the ReformaTories. These are the stories that come out...I know of a couple of others that would rile the folks back home but just remain part of the Ottawa backdrop. They just ain't as squeaky clean as they'd have us think.

Just an idea......

.... this information/accusations of even more drug use/connections coming to light, could help explain her meltdown/erratic behavior and subsequent refusal to co-operate in security at the Ch'town airport.?
