John McCain, Maverick No More

blogs.wsj.com

I never considered myself a maverick,” he told Newsweek. “I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities.”

The statement is stunning on many levels, not least of which because the maverick persona was hammered by the McCain-Palin ticket in the 2008 campaign and long-cultivated by the senator and his supporters years before his presidential bid.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin apparently didn’t get the maverick memo when she campaigned as recently as March 26 for McCain’s Senate re-election bid. “Send the maverick back to the United Sta

Wow, this is amazing, if you recall, "Maverick" seemed to be the battle cry of the GOP during the last election.

Now it comes out that Mccain intellectually defrauded the political right(lol?)

I believe that this is further proof that the whole election is a massive web of lies, and this is to be expected.

I am not surprised, people say loads of stuff everyday.

Money talks, B.S. Walks.

Politicians are professional liars, who cares what they say or not say, it doesn't involve any of the human beings in America positively.

good find S&F

I saw this on the daily-show a couple of days ago, I thought Jon Stewart summed it up very well (and humorously)

John McCain: "Sarah and I don't agree on everything. What do you expect of 2 mavericks"?

Video

I'm sure it's just that his memory is toast.

Biden may be prone to gaffes... funny ones at that, but when he actually has a clue as to what is going down he proves he is a marginally good statesmen (compared to palin, marginal is much preferred cause she is a moron)... But truthfully? I like when he puts his foot in his mouth. It is nice to see a clip of how he is when not flustered or thinks the mic is not recording. Like... always lol.

I like John McCain, he would have gotten my vote in 2000, if the neocons/FOX attack machine hadn't turned on him in favor of Bush2. But he really should have sat out the last election, he had his chance and he really isn't as good at playing politics. I'm pretty sure the GOP-brand of politics has corrupted his soul, lol. He must hate having to do/say some of the things he's done/said just to remain a "viable" candidate in this political climate.

I agree completely. I like the 2000 version of John McCain, too. But he started to warp out and twisted into someone unrecognizable by 2008. And it looks like he continues to distort. He became totally corrupted! But he allowed it every step of the way. So, I'm not sure if he was EVER the person I thought he was.
