The software analyzes functional MRI scans to determine what parts of a person's brain is being activated as he or she thinks. In tests, it
guessed with 90 percent accuracy which of two words a person was thinking about, said Intel Labs researcher Dean Pomerleau.
"The vision is being able to interface to information, to your devices and to other people without having an intermediary device," he said.
Intel technology that was showcased in New York today showed how to to control technology with our minds.
Science fiction is becoming fact
"thought identification" means that they can see and identify what the brain does from certain thoughts. The results are 100% each time when tested.
Criminals.....this mean a whole new spin on lie detector tests......
Torture techniques...gone
The good news is Pedos better hide.....
Security at airports...no more xrays, your intent to harm and your thoughts can be read.... www.foxnews.com...
They can already read intentions as well as objects.
Is this revolutionary? And why do we have to reveal our thoughts, are my private thoughts a fundamental human right? Yes they are. Will they sell this
tech to the minions through fear....We can keep you safe form terrorist and criminals, I suspect is how we will hear of it.
They are able to read from your brain exactly where you have been, what you scenes you have seen..>Example, it can tell when someone been in a
Terrorist training camp, and was that criminal be in that room during that crime. The software is able to map the room or scene virtually to what the
person is thinking.
An Indian woman was convicted of murder from mind reading technology that proved she was in the room when her husband was poisoned.
What will the legal system decide on how to include this information, this will need to go to all supreme courts worldwide regarding the validity of
submitted mind tech evidence? The 5th amendment in America stop you form incriminating yourself? Will this be allowed tin the States if you have the
right to not incriminate yourself?
Even more wild tech being developed....
Beam of light that is able to read your mind....they can beam it on to your forehead to get the reading without your knowledge. This is tried and
tested.
Neuro marketing is up and coming.....scanning the brain for consumer desires is being used by companies such as Macdonalds, INtel etc.
Brain imaging is making its way onto many aspects of our lives....One day will there be a machine that can read all our thoughts? and without our
knowing? Scientists are saying its 3 years away....not 50 years years......
So the tin foil hat people were right. I have always believed that if technology is new, the government has had it at least 10 years before public
awareness. The abuses of reading minds and forging the documents from reading peoples minds means that if you disagree with the gov you can be found
guilty of anything. I foresee really speedy public trials in the future.
You should watch the House episode called Black Hole, where they used this technology to find out what was wrong with a patient.
It takes something like 12 hours to map out the brain, then it is able to read the brain, so it not to much to worry about. Though sometime down the
road they will have it so they don't have to map out the brain.
Everything we have thought as impossible, is starting to become a reality. Our minds thoughts seem impossible, but it is up for us to make the
impossible a reality.
Orson Scott Card wrote in one of his books that all you need to do to make your thoughts a reality, is think about it in such a way that it can't be
disproved. Like how a apple is a food. Maybe he was on to something.
This is like living in "1984",on steroids!
Personally,I do not like it at all.
"Would Microsoft's 'guardian angel' turn our brains to mush?"
I was reading TechFlash's Monday piece on Microsoft's new "guardian angel" patent, and it stirred up a creepy feeling inside of me. In the
time I've been covering Microsoft for seattlepi.com, I've had this strange shudder a handful of times. And I'm wondering if other people feel it,
as well.
Microsoft's patent application includes a flowchart of the basic artificial intelligence in its "intelligent personal agent." Click to
viewTechFlash reported that Microsoft has been granted a patent on an "intelligent personal agent" that could predict a user's wants and actions.
If the user is at a shopping mall and the software's artificial intelligence knows it's lunchtime, the "guardian angel" could search for nearby
restaurants that serve the user's preferred foods, choose a cuisine based on the user's recent meals, check for seating availability, and make lunch
reservations.
This is an example laid out in Microsoft's 2006 patent application, which lists Bill Gates and Ray Ozzie as two of the inventors.
But I know of an existing device that already has this function. It's called the human brain.
Call me pessimistic if you want, but do we really need the artificial intelligence of a digital guardian angel to supplant the organic intelligence of
our own selves?
And as for the "transhumanism/genetic re-engineering",etc...That is similar to what was happening "before the flood",when fallen angels were
mating with different species, and the Bible says when the Lord returns,it will be like "in the days of Noah".
(More on that kind of science, and more,here:www.raidersnewsnetwork.com...)
...Let alone what is going on with CERN!...(Scary stuff!!!!!)
While this posting has a measure of truth to it, there is also a humorous side to it. While I can readily see how mind control devices that really
worked could be used to definitively find something your are guilty of, in the hands of the evil government, it would ensure you are guilty of
something.
On the other hand, at present, such devices are still too erratic and unable to actually read a persons thoughts. Because these devices are at
present a sign of things to come, the best way to defeat such a mind control software is to say to yourself mentally, something that Nancy Pelosi is
famous for in her media build up to the currently illegally passed Health Care bill.
"You'll have to approve it to see whats in it."
Just repeat those words in your mind over and over in your head and you will most likely cause the mind reading machine being used on you to explode
into flames. Just a thought.
If this technology becomes widespread and will indeed be used for law enforcement then it will be a dangerous world to live in.
How does the operator tell between a genuine thought of a particular nature, and a false positive? Since you can't prove what you were/weren't
thinking, if you have been falsely accused, what comeback do you have? How do you prove that you weren't thinking of [whatever] at the time?
What if a machine is malfunctioning? How does the operator tell?
This kind of stuff is fairly old tech, and some of which is already hitting the shelf as consumer product. To be accurate though, they're not really
"reading your mind". It's all pretty much just associations of brain activity to the preforming of various actions. For instance, certain BCI
technologies can detect which letter of the alphabet you're thinking of. This was explored to allow handicapped people like Steven Hawking or those
with similar "locked in" forms of paralysis/coma to communicate in absence of physical responses. However, what you don't see before most of the
videos is the calibration period where the software must make the correlation between the brain activity when thinking of a letter - to the actual
letter.
Similarly, prosthesis that are controlled by brain activity have shown astounding levels of dexterity, sensitivity, and fine motor control. However,
most people with these high-tech robo-arms tend to stick with their hooks or muscle-controlled prosthesis for every day use. This is because the
calibration and cumbersome impulse/association interface. It's simply more intuitive to use a "stick on a stump" than have to order and focus your
thoughts into the proper instructions for what you want the arm to do. Those which tap into the nerve impulses of the existing limb, rather than being
controlled by the brain, are more intuitive and easier to use... but tend to lack the fine motor control.
For instance, here's a video demo of Honda using a non-invasive BCI interface to control the Asimo robot by human thought.
Notice how cumbersome the interface between them is, with general movement and interaction not being simply "willed" by the operators thoughts...
but by correlating specific patterns of brain activity to various preprogrammed functions. It's like using a BCI to control your computer's mouse
cursor (they have those). You can't just look at what you want to click, decide to click, and have the cursor execute your intent. Imagine instead
having to mentally focus on moving your right hand up or down to control vertical movement, having to focus intently on moving your left hand up or
down to control horizontal movement. Thinking about clenching your fist tightly, as if you were going to actually clench your fist, to "click" a URL
or Icon.
That is about the state of BCI and Mind Reading as it currently exists. Perhaps a little more robust, but not terribly so. Now, in regards to a court
of law situation and trying to determine criminal intent - you can use brain scanning technology in a number of ways. Calibration for biological
differences aside, all of our brains function in pretty much the same general manner. The regions of the brain involved in recalling stored memory are
much different than the regions of the brain involved in generating new and unique thoughts. This can be used as a more accurate form of lie detector,
since you will have a visual representation of when the subject is telling the truth or just making stuff up. Similarly, intent can be inferred by
patterns brain activity. However, it's not quite accurate enough (nor obvious in general terms such as with lying IIRC) to be used at current times
as anything more than corroborating evidence. You can't base a conviction on that alone.
Even if you could, though, how much different or more profound a shaper of legal proceeding than DNA evidence has turned out to be. DNA evidence alone
actually CAN get a life or death sentience without corroborating evidence, and can be devastating even in the presence of contradictory evidence.
Brain Scanning technology is not to that point yet, and really should be seen (where applicable) as an augmentation to DNA evidence to confirm or cast
doubt on it's findings.
While many here discuss the potential this technology has for abuse, it is equally potent at seeing justice served by helping to exonerate those who
are already in prison after being falsely convicted of crimes they did not commit. According to the Innocence Project website, DNA evidence has
exonerated 252 people in the United States who were convicted of crimes they did not commit. Of those 252 exonerations, DNA evidence was instrumental
in the following conviction of 40 actual perpetrators.
Yes, brain scanning technology does hold much potential for abuse, but it means relatively little in the context of things. If you find yourself so
unlucky as to be on the wrong side of a legal system that wants you convicted badly enough to tamper with evidence/commit purgery/offer bribes/etc...
then brain data or no brain data, you're going to get convicted of whatever it is they want you to get convicted of. A jury trial is only marginally
better, but if they can lie to make their case and you can't... they're still going to tend to side against you.
Brain Scanning technology, just as DNA evidence, can be powerful tools with which to fight and overturn false convictions. Corruption can turn any
tool against the innocent, but it takes powerful precision technologies to bring irrefutable evidence which can be independently verified by multiple
parties/institutions providing consistent findings independent of each other to bring those corruptions to light at times. Ultimately, I think these
technologies are a good thing to have around, and will go further to ensure justice is served than they will to further injustice.

Actually, no... transhumanist philosophies are nothing like "pre-flood fallen angels". Transhumanism tends to be rooted rather firmly in the reality
of technology and it's implications on the development of humanity both past and present, then projecting the next logical possible step. Though some
futurists do tend to border on the pseudo-religious side, they at least have some working current correlate from which to base their assertions.
You're comparing sci-fi to high-fantasy at best. More like, comparing Ghost in the Shell (transhumanism) to Yo Gabba Gabba (The Bible). Yeah,
they're both fiction, but the degree to which they reflect reality shouldn't be ignored. They don't really hold equal merit as a reflection of the
world we live in. One is rooted in reality... and the other is formally detached from it.
Still waiting on the findings from the angel genome sequencing project. I'm sure it'll be any day now, right? Perhaps we're putting the cart before
the horse though... as I don't think anyone has even explained if Angels carry the XX/XY sex chromosomes of mammals or the ZZ/ZW sex chromosome of
birds. It'd be nice to know since like, their morphology breaks every single rule of evolution by being the only mammalian/avian hybrid which
additionally is the only known mammalian/avian hexapod (we're all tetrapods). And, if they reproduce biologically - they are subject to evolution on
at least some level via sexual reproduction facilities generating variation via the recombination of chromosomes in male/female haploid gametes. So
which sex chromosome pair do they have... unless they're like amphibians who have both within even different populations of the same species... and
if that's true, would that mean that angel gender can swap from male to female, female to male, depending on the ambient temperature and breeding
population?
Also, would ethereal non-physical spooge stain physical non-imaginary bedsheets? If an angel mated with a married woman, would they have to stone the
angel to death? Do angel babies occasionally get genetic deformities? Do Angels have identical twins or hermaphroditic chimeras caused by twins
merging into a single embryo?
Can you in ANY WAY POSSIBLE make ANY SENSE of your claim in a manner which does not completely contradict everything we know about biology?
Awesome development, imagine driving a car or flying a plane with your mind. i understand peoples concerns over misuse but even in a court of law
today things are not 100% like dna has shown developments like this help more than they harm the potential for misjustice is seen in everys system -
dont let fear stop progress! for those of you arguing that furter development in Mind Control may lead to unchalanged dictatorship let me assure you
of how unlikely that is: the problem is computational power, the human mind is ridiculously complex no widespread system of control could be developed
since that would mean effectively you would have to run the entire populations minds through a computer system something no computer system concivable
today quantum or otherwise could manage. in the end i dont think mind control will go much beyond virtual reality feedback etc but even at this level
both have such potential from stimulating the visual cortex for virtual or enhanced reality or reading motor impulses to control vehicles.
funny note: adverts in dreams like futurama?
of cource future physics/technology may prove me wrong. just my point of veiw.
This is good and bad. I see potential uses in things such as games or for parapalegic people. But also abuse by the government. It is a matter of
determining if the reward is bigger than the benifits.
In many ways, science is metaphysics for dummies! People with heightened sixth senses who work on developing their extra sensory capabilities can
already read minds with far more accuracy.
Yet we live in a funny world. A child might in fact be three feet tall, but despite that, is not officially three feet tall until measured by a
yardstick to gauge that height through a process we can all agree on is valid.
New Age disciples are convinced that the Age of Aquarius that we are on the cusp of will involve the development of a collective human consciousness.
In other words, no more lies, no more deceit, because everyone else will in fact know what you are thinking, the upside is this might make it easier
to get a date, the downside is there is a good chance there will initially be more face slapping taking place in the world.
Eventually as the human mind evolves, everyone will be able to develop their sixth senses to communicate telepathically and read and sense other
people’s thoughts. Be honest, most of us already know what those we are in close physical contact are really thinking, even when they are trying to
hide it.
Yet in the meantime technology is being developed to create the collective conscious and most of us are already wired to that, it’s called the
Internet.
Instantaneous, real time, communication, with virtually anyone in the world, already exists. The ability to broadcast your thoughts and perspectives
instantly all over the world already exists, and exists through the Internet.
Science and technology really is metaphysics for dummies, and the reality is all these things are in the works, and in the pipeline, and according to
Israeli Scientists they have discovered the portion of the brain where consciousness emits from.
It will only be a matter of time before they can wire the brain to machines, and be able to do it with Wi-Fi technology. They already are developing
and you can buy a completely wireless recharging system for the battery on your Cell Phone. You plug the device into the wall, and a special USB
adapter wirelessly picks up the electrical charge it emits. They are working on going completely wireless with electricity and that is not far off.
We are in fact already surrounded by electromagnetic charges from cell phone towers, radio transmissions, and new wireless electricity devices.
It will just be a limited matter of time, until they will be able to dial into the frequency your brain operates on, at its base and communicate with
it, and exchange information with it.
We aren’t in Kansas anymore, as the good people from Oz already know!

This is mind reading tech, again not control.
Link your thread onthe control stuff, should be interesting also
Ditto...it all sounds like the Tom Cruise movie "Minority Report". This isn't something law enforcement needs to use.
Who hasn't at some point said something on the order of "I thought about doing whatever, but something changed my mind." Just because
you think of something, doesn't mean you're going to do it.
One instance where I think something like this could be useful is for someone in a coma.
All in all...I think this technology is a bad idea, the PTB (whom we already know are liars and thieves) would wreak even more havoc on the world.
I don't like the idea personally! it's interesting granted! but my thoughts are precious and personal to me, I can completely be myself in there!
and I wouldn't like mine read or mapped by anyone!
