After reading this I am thinking that I must have this condition.

I have a very strong visual representation of time in my minds eye.

The best way to describe it is my memories of time past is like a ball with each moment a clean slice through the ball.

When I think of future events or try and plan ahead I actually see in my mind the a transparent sphere surrounding the ball, encasing it. the future events sphere is either blue or red.

For me time is litrally like a movie film, with each moment a still slice where matter has frozen at that moment.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Do you have the ability to instantly recall events in any given year as described in the link? Sounds like you may have the same thing described there. I wonder how many people in the world have these types of abilities and never report them. I also wonder if this isnt a step in evolution that hasnt been regarded as such yet.......very interesting, thanks for posting!

I wouldn't say it was a divided as what the article describes for me I cannot perceive month or day.

the sphere of time I perceive in my mind is fluid with each moment a circular slice when assembled makes the sphere. the largest outer skin/layers of the sphere are the events recently and moving in towards the center is at the point I was born. like an onion I guess, but don't like to use onion cause its a perfect sphere with thousands of layers.

I can in my mind literally peal away the slices though its far more fluid than peal, its more like a review fast rewind, to recall memories in great detail.

Actual I always thought people remembered things in this way until I started to recall stuff that was as vivid as it happened that day that everyone else who had been in the experienced had completely forgotten.

It works down to the last detail of the moment. The moment is frozen not moving and I in my mind can move through and around the moment and experience different aspects of it.

And example is I'm recalling right now watching lassie on tv with my sister, I was 7. I was eating pickled onion monster munch, I can taste it and smell it, I can feel the sad feeling as lassie is trapped on a rock with the water coming in... But it more than what I experienced at the time...

I can in the same moment in my minds eye put my head on the carpet and smell the smell, or I can reach behind the chair and clearly see what was there, even though in that moment I didn't do those things.

this may sound like the ravings of a lunatic, but this is genuinely how my memory and forward thinking works.

I wonder if there are any other people here who can relate to me?

I'm a musician and I wonder if this is one of the reasons I write the kind of music I do.

I would guess that a good hypnotist could reproduce it. Also, as others have pointed out, it is a commonly reported side effect of certain chemicals which may or may not be legal in your part of the world.

One way or another, the experience is available if you really want to have it.

who are actually diagnosed with it clinically and have been tested.

...I'm not sure how it could be tested. I'm not even sure someone who was born that way would even know. How could they? And what would they be able to tell you? Sensory experience is a subjective phenomenon. Can you describe to a blind man what it's like to see? How can someone who sees sound explain to you what that's like?

In my own case, on one particular occassion under certain circumstances I tasted my neck. With my hand. What was it like? It was like tasting my neck. With my hand. What did my neck taste like? It tasted like neck. That's all I can tell you. No more than I can tell you what it's like to see the color blue. It is what it is.

By the way some of the people who have posted in this thread about
experiencing it, I don't think you really experienced true synaesthesia.

For what it's worth, my impression was the same.

No, it sounds to me like you have an eidetic memory.

I would ask anyone reading this thread to simply think about eating a lemon. Can you taste it? Is your mouth watering?

Same idea. Some people are just better at it.

Well as long as I can remember I have seen sounds as colors. Especially music. When I was first driving I had to really limit playing the radio or listen to talk radio because it was too distacting otherwise. I ended up playing in a band and it all seemed so easy--like interactively painting with the others.
The thought of it is kind of cool, but to experience it without end is a bit annoying, to be honest.

You could be right. One thing that is interesting is my ability with mathematics and music. These two area's have always been easy for me, I think it must have something to do with my memory.

I wish all people could remember their lives with the same clarity I can, Life is so short, to loose the details of your past seems terrifying to me.

I must admit there are some things you wish you could forget that tend to repeat and when you have a memory like mine you relive them warts and all.

Anyway, its late now and I have to sleep.
