Hey all,
I've been thinking about posting this for a while. It is just an idea but I think it could turn out to be a good one.
We get most of our information (not opinions) on politics from MSM, news papers, word of mouth, bloggers, and discussion boards like this. I was
thinking instead of speculating or waiting for new information to come out of legislation going through if we could have a "read & analyze" group
that will be willing to put away the left & right arguments. Each member would be assigned a portion of legislation to read and then later post back
about what they have found.
The passage of healthcare is now giving Congress the opportunity to move on to other issues we are facing. Many of these issues are just as important
as healthcare and I think having a big group to essentially "speed read" the bills would be very beneficial because we could inform people of what
exactly is in some of these bills before they get a chance to ram them down our throats.
I know that there is a lot of "legal speak" in the legislation and that it may be hard to understand, but that is what the group is for. Every week
or so the group would put out what has been found in a nice easy to understand format so everyone can make their own opinions on what has gone
through.
With proper direction and coordination I feel like this could be a great addition to ATS because raw information would be coming out daily/weekly.
