if you build it bigger you just get more amps, not volts. each cell ( part of the ground) needs to be insulated from each other. some thing plastic. that would give you the volts. you need about 34 for 12 volts. it would take a lot of work. but it could be done. I have one to. do you know about the Germanium Diode radio? it has no power? it uses the radio waves to power it. the air is Full of all kinds of radio microwave energy. you could build lots of little receivers that are link’t together to give you the volts and amps you need. and with the tiny circuits they have today. it would be small to. but they would never let you do that! free energy? a parasite dies without a host...

first of all "they" can only stop me by killing me. and i dont think that will happen. and if it will, my family will cause some havoc before they also die but i know they'll stand for me, we're from russia, you dont mess w/ russian family. secondly, thats a good idea, and there's a host("free" waves that are actually not free someone is trasmitting them via a powered source) so i can be the parasite. now can you clarify? i heard about the radio that powers itself. now how could i collect that energy and put it in my batteries?

Me, I'm big into photovoltaics and wind power for post-SHTF generation. Here in Floriduh, there's often enough sun to be practical, although not as much as you'd get in Arizona or something.

Also, with the steady off-shore wind, you could easily run a nice vertical axis wind turbine. You might not be able to run your AC off it, but you could run radios, a refrigerator and what not.

My dream, if I ever get rich, would be to have something like a single SunCatcher solar thermal plant to power my house 100%, but that's pretty pricey.

can an earth battery charge an actual rechargable battery, much like you would hook up a 12v battery to a solar panel for it to charge, could you do the same with the earth set up? or it is too weak?

The problem with earth/water batteries is the amount of amps you get. You get very a little amount of amps since the reaction is slow. To get more amps, you need a strong acid. If you placed the rods where old leaky car batteries were placed, you would get more energy but for a shorter amount of time depending on the thickness of the rods.

Then again, if you live near a scrap dealer, you "might" be able to get lead acid batteries for free as long as you return them. Alot might be bad for starting cars, but still have some life in them. Just be very sure to make an acid proof tray for them, try matress bags, plexiglass or maybe fiberglass.

yea i guess it could but at a pretty slow rate unless you make a few of the earth batteries and connect them together, which apparently would take alot of work. as long as the "cells" of the battery are separated with some plastic and insulated, they will act as different batteries. unfortunately, you cant just stick a bunch of pipes into the earth and have lots of energy coming out. each cell has to be insulated, and like another poster mentioned, the energy you get is really coming out of the energy it took to refine the copper and the metal rod. so eventually it will stop working. but its something to consider. if you have access to free copper and metal then it could be truly free.

now what would you use those batteries for? for the acid in them? pour it into the earth battery or something? so basically when we make salt water and vinegar earth batteries we're using the acid in the vinegar to extract the power from the rods? how long will a copper pipe produce energy for? say in acid? will it decay qickly? is this even worth considering? i mean if you had a supply of copper and metal, how long would it take for it to run out? a month per pipe? 2 months?

Amazing! Have you heard of "tree technology"? You chop down a tree and then you burn it. This releases orders of magnitudes more energy than "Earth energy" and it's renewable as well! If you balance the number of trees growing/burning then it's carbon neutral too
It's free energy!

ok, ok i was excited when i found out about it now i admit its not as simple as i thought. im just trying to promote alternative energy thats all. im sure there are methods out there that work better though. so ill start another thread on another method im researching, but first, ima do some more researchin so i dont look like a fool.

so from what i understand, it does not matter the distance of the copper pole to the galvanized steel pole, it will produce somewhere around 1v of dc current, and that is due to the natural ionic attraction at one pole and the repulsion at the other, i'm a little bit confused as to how the north and south alignment of the earth is involved, perhaps that arrangement allows a natural more 'grounded' path in compliance with the magnetic lines of the earth...

so basically you can rig up a 60ft distant between the poles like the video on youtube, or you can use one single ice tray square full of dirt and both will provide a volt or so, perhaps a greater amperage rate with the 60 ft distance? i would assume more distance would mean more resistance ohm wise though..

hook up TWELVE cells in the ice tray and if my understanding is correct you could produce 12V, and thus use it as DC to run a small appliance like a radio or fan granted they are low amp eaters

am i understanding this correctly?

Bedlam is right. The best dissimiliar metal combo I have found was copper and aluminum. But i am broke and those are in my price range.

i believe the height of the rods and distance determine the amps, and , yes, 12 volts is achieved by connecting these batteries in parallel like in the ice tray. i have seen a youtube video where someone powered a small 12v motor from a toy or something and a few l.e.d.s with this system. im still trying to understand it all. i definitely know more now that some people shared info on this thread.

Nuh uh, you get more voltage by putting them in series, but how well that works when they're all in the ground together I'm not sure. Gott cooler batteries would be fine.

You get the same voltage but more current in parallel. You get more voltage but the same current in series.

I would use the car batteries as they are. Find the best ones in the bunch with a volt meter, any that are 10.6 volts and lower are no good. Then, from that group, find the ones that drop the least volts when you draw 5-10 amps or so from some sort of load like a car headlight.

Never pour the acid into the ground, nothing will grow there for a long while and may damage your houses foundation and even underground pipes. If anything, pour the acid into big thick pastic buckets and put the two metal rods in those.

IMO a big alternator used as a wind generator and about four good batteries in parallel would be much better. If the batteries were not allowed to go below 11V, the system would work for a much longer time and produce more power/energy too.
