what's preventing someone 100-200 or however many years BEFORE supposed "attack" happens.. from saying the exact same thing "it would have happened by now"..

say the attack happened in the yr 1930.
if someone was saying "it would have happened by now".. in 1830 .. they're still wrong.

say it happens next year.
so someone the following year is saying "well good aliens would have saved us by now if they were going to"... etc.

you can go on and on with all that.

I think the Jordanian prank was another in a lineage of psycho-social tests to glean public response.
hell.. maybe the people really DIDN'T panic....
and the report of them panicing is part of the prank/study...

telling the world that people reacted this way entrains other people everywhere else...to more likely react that way also... by just a fragment more prone to doing it.. but one of many fragments of hinting towards hopefully getting that type of reaction..
