I have found the humor section in my local bookstore to be a wealth of information. I knew had gotten the Zombie Survival Guide there, but I didn't realize what a treasure trove it was until a friend of mine ran across several humor books relating to survival. Today I just picked up the Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook.
The again I guess its fitting since people have a tendency to laugh at us survivalists, even though we will be the ones laughing come TEOTWAWKI.

I've got the book "worst case scenario survival handbook - travel" I absolutely love it, it's funny but deadly serious, the methods in the books are very useful and are provided by experts, although I haven't yet had the opportunity to try out the methods I am sure something will happen at some point.
This book is a must have

it's an important mix, humor and survival--BE humorous, laugh at yourself, and your situation. there is NO point to be miserable out wherever you are. like i always say, negativity is a trap, and needs more negativity to thrive and stay sunken.

chin up! laugh at yourself, your misfortune, your predicament. take it seriously, but don't be miserable or you'll fall apart.

May I suggest picking up a book by Matthew Stein called; When Technology Fails. It's the best book on survival (longer term) I've seen, pretty much an encyclopedia of knowledge of how to live without electricity. Not much for wilderness survival but that is covered well in other books.
This book is a MUST for urban/suburban survival, chapters cover: water, shelter, first aid, growing and storing food, metalworking, homesteading, green building and much more. Nearly 500 pages worth of text and many good references and more importantly, web links to some great sites I never knew about.
