this is all very interesting. I was excited to see part two today but once again very disappointed to see that part two really didnt add much to the story.

WE ARE WAITING FOR THE BIG CONCLUSION.

This would be so much more credible if you just typed it all up and then posted it. You write very well and it reads like a story, which is leading me to believe that it may just be a story. Seems like you might be after attention the way you are releasing the parts to this story separately.

hurry up and finish it, real or fake, its interesting and id like to read the rest.

yes but at the least the terminology proves he's a computer software expert/engineer. Can you define a HASH for me? Do you know what a PARSER does? I sure as hell don't.

Here you go:

HASH is a bit sequence generated by a dispersion algorithm used to visualize numbers (hexadecimal), representing 1/2 a byte each. in other words it's a transformation of a big amount of data into a small amount of data.

A PARSER is a computer program that receives sequential data and breaks it up into parts to be used by other programs. A PARSER can also be used to check if all essential data for a specific program has been received.

Once again: GOOGLE!!!!

any person with a limited or basic understanding of computer technology can look that up within minutes and understand its meaning.

See but here's the part that seems to be going over your head (you're not as clever as you think you are). Anyone can LOOK UP the terminology AFTER the fact, but you have to have known of the terminology to begin with to prove your point. Did you KNOW what a hash is or a parser is? No you didn't, you had to look it up on google. So this proves my point that if YOU were writing this story you wouldn't have used such advanced terminology. Why? Because you wouldn't have even known they existed. This guy (astroengineer) DID know and he did use them because he most likely has an actual software engineering background unlike you.

Good plan (and offer)
but you are going under the assumption that we would all believe you too.

(no offense)

I also mentioned that...that even if it was confirmed by me, then you got the issue of my credibility being pretty much unknown.

But ultimately, its better than nothing.

Personally, I will probably forget about this thread soon, I work and well, just cant keep up with all of the interesting threads.

I am disappointed in this one.

I dont see how hard it is to compose the text of your thread, before you begin the thread, and then post it all at once.

I am not judging veracity of story. I am just saying this method of thread starting and such is not cool, for those of us who actually have a forty hour wk job and lives to boot. It would have been cool to have the entire story abridged in the first few posts, then expanded at the OP leisure for those who have the time to follow the details.

As it stands my time was sort of wasted having to wade through the type of posts I myself am writing on this thread. Really sucks. And it seems rude to me to string people along, if you have a point to make in your thread make it in the opening part for goodness sake.

I am thinking until the story is complete this needs to go in the short story section.

I think this is a valid point to bring, and hopefully by responding I can keep up with this thread in myats. it is an interesting story so far, but like I said I am really disappointed in how its being told.

what UTTER TWADDLE

is that the level of " thinking " you are employing nowadays ???

the skeptics are silent - it must be true ???????????

and if they had posted anything - another idiot would have made the claim :

wow the paid disinfo skeptica are out in force - it must be true

dont believe me ? - i can link to multiple threads where that very claim has been made

No, I don't believe you or is that "dis" believe you...

Oh and tell my bosses to start sending those checks. I don't work for free...it's very "dis"heartening. Sorry to be so "dis" ingenuine, but "dis" is out of control.

I have thinking to employ now or i might "dis" credit myself. I must now "dis" associate from you.

Peace

no it does not prove your point. it proves that the information is there for anyone to look up. ever wonder why AE takes so long to post his stuff and then never comments or adresses any other members comments!?!?? i think it's pretty obvious.

what i'm saying is that just because someone uses "advanced" techy terminology does not make him an engineer. especially on the internet!
did you ever consider that writers RESEARCH before actually writing. or do you assume that a science fiction writer whose book is about space travel, has to be an engineer.

how do you know i have no software engineering background? oh wait... i guess it must have been because i didn't pretend to have worked at NASA...

I was thinking that the poster had some credibility. But he ignores the questions. So I guess it is one of those good sci fi stories. I'm done with this thread.

Aw, seriously? 11 pages and only one, MAYBE two, are actually part of the OP? The rest is full of whiners bitching about the poster. Wow. Once in a while (quite a short while actually) a post comes along which draws out all the complete twats that I'm ashamed to share the term 'ATS member' with, and this is certainly one of them. We're not even letting him finish before ripping him to pieces? I get that he's posted before, but still...

If this really is to do with FTL communications, then it seems a rather piss-poor reason to unleash your collective venom into the thread. Also a strange reason to leave NASA

Perhaps it is, indeed, someone flexing his creative writing muscles (and it isn't too bad, if it is fiction), but over something as relatively small as FTL comm, who cares?

As for those of you trying to get him to prove his identity, don't hold your breath. If I had something to share, I honestly wouldn't care less whether ATS believed me or not. I'd post it for the people who would get something out of it, and be satisfied with the fact that I know it's true. I certainly don't think so much of myself that I think he needs to prove himself to ME

True or not (admittedly probably not), it makes little difference; and the 20 minutes I just spent reading and typing this are pretty much all the thought I'll put into it either way. I will, though, have the decency to let him finish before I make up my mind. Though my conclusion will most likely be the usual - that I have no way of knowing truth from lie here, and so I'll just get on with my life.

EDIT: I love the way that even while I was typing this, half a dozen posts have appeared with people attacking each other. For a site full of people supposedly looking for truth and (perhaps) wanting the world to be a better place, there are certainly a lot of rather unpleasant, intolorant people turning threads nasty very quickly here. I know I'm going to get bitched at even for this post

STOP with all these attacks on OP, it's ridiculous. First of all, WE the people.. on ATS are here to find the TRUTH... meaning.. you keep your damn opinions to yourself and let the man finish. If he's lying/truth it will not change the fact that NASA has lied to us, over and over again. If this happens to be a proof of that, shame on all you for constantly bashing the OP, because what he's saying and how he's presenting is not good enough in your opinion.

We are here TOGETHER to find the truth, LEARN to support one another and the truth will shine. Attacking or dismissing someone because they do NOT fit into your personal agenda, just shows your shallowness. Learn to grow up and support one another in finding what the TRUTH is, not act on your skepticism on every subject that maybe a little out there for you.

Open your mind/heart and you'll grow, persist in your old ways and NOTHING will change. Be apart of the solution rather then being the problem.

Good I hope you and the other crybabies polluting this thread with inane garbage are all "done" and leave so that the rest of us actually interested in hearing out the story can wait patiently for the next installment without having to wade through dozens of pages to see if AE whose post is the only one that matters in this thread, has posted an update yet or not.

At least you're leaving, and not going on and on and on about it. But if you did think this was credible, then perhaps you should stay, as he said he didn't read the comments and would try to answer them at the end. Whether or not he will is another matter, but if you aren't decided, it may be wise to wait.

I'm somewhat new here and definitely haven't learned the ropes. Feel like I've wasted plenty of time on this thread alone. Almost on the verge of giving it up. Going to stick it out though without passing judgement just yet. Hope there's some kind of "shocking" revelation just around the corner.

Picture me this...

Fairly new member (perhaps trying to finid his place within ATS) with only a single post before this thread. Draws out his first passionate thread writing in stages that come with a "hook" to keep the truely interested close. With that, keeping the trolls and naysayers closer. As you can see from the 11 pages of garbage to OP's 2 (albiet long) posts. What better way to comb through the who's who than a thread like this?? I'm taking notes.

It looks like the next installment is on his blog now:
astroengineer.wordpress.com...

edit: Well, part of it, at least.
edit2: This portion was already posted by OP on page 6, sorry about that.

Keep waiting.

Keep kept.

As rude as you may think people like myself are- I wonder if you ever consider how rude a "liar" is.

To take it on one's self to fool all hopeful/gullible people for no other reason then self amusement, is far more rude and hateful then I can ever be.

I may not be the sweetest guy online...but I don't make it my practice to play with your little minds for my personal game.

I do see how easy it would be...seeing as we have a plethora of "gullible people" who log on here daily.

Once this is all over and leads us nowhere...I will accept all forms of praise in the form of "federal-reserve notes"...or you can just sing songs about my awesome soothsaying abilities and travel the lands as bards spreading my wonderful name.

Either way...just watch this unfold and then guess a how so many of us knew this was BS from the start.

PS-The argument of "not allowing this guy to finish his story" is not solid. This is not his first thread on this subject, and he is far from being rushed. He simply will not "get to a point" or prove anything simple.
