Who also just happens to be the brother of the current President of the United Arab Emirates, and who also was a contributor in 2007 to Citicorp for $7.5 billion dollars, and Citicorp has it's dirty hands in too many things to list.

ADIA is also a very "involved" group, apparently with little outside exposure of what they are invested in or what is in their full holdings. It appears nobody really knows for sure, but they definitely hold a lot of wealth and Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is considered the 3rd wealthiest "royal" in the world.

Another interesting bit:

The pilot of the aircraft was rescued in good condition, but authorities continued the search for Al Nahyan.

Some more info on him being considered for Time Magazine's Top 100:

Last year, the head of the world's biggest sovereign wealth fund began making headline-grabbing deals, investing money in Citigroup and Toll Brothers in the U.S. and in real estate around the world.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority
is famously secretive; as its profile gets higher in the U.S., calls for greater transparency increase.

In 2009 Ahmed was ranked as the 27th most powerful person in the world by Forbes[1].

He served as Interior Minister of UAE from 2004. He is the current Undersecretary of Ministry of Finance & Industry.

Might be nothing... or might be a grab at power with someone needing something of value to use as leverage. This could be a big story if they don't find a body very very soon.

Interested in seeing what others think about this.

Mods: my apologies if this is in the wrong forum, but my impression is that it is possible TPTB and the financial hidden hands are at work here.

Have to wonder if this was intentional or not...

A warning to the "up and coming"?

Or a warning that they are a threat to someone else?
