Check out this cool video that beautifully illustrates that mathematics are evident in the nature around us. Why does there exist a sublime connection in the correspondence between natural mathematics and equations that have been explored and determined by humanity and the ratios and measurements that exist in the natural world? What is really at the heart of it? Believers and non-believers: go!

Firstly ... cool animation ... thanks for psting

Firstly ... There is another thread with a very similar topic that has just started ... www.abovetopsecret.com...&addstar=1&on=8423362#pid8423362

Secondly ... The other thread is a little more controversial than this one so it may get more takers than this ... as is the nature of ATS

Thirdly ... It is interesting to note how diametrically opposed the two different forums this very similar topic was posted in

Fifthly ... I think there is pretty good evidence that suggests that Nature has a set of rules for the way matter manifests itself

Eighthly ... When you say "believers and non believers" are you talking theologically or mathematically?

Beautiful and elegant as it is, to me it is not surprising. The goal of mathematics, after all, is to describe nature. What's really boggling for me, though, is how all of the important numbers are irrational, namely pi, phi, and e. I've wonder if perhaps we're using the wrong number system somehow, seeing as the good numbers fall so far between the cracks that they keep generating more digits. Or maybe the constructs that these constants represent are irrational in and of themselves, as in there's no such thing as a "circle" so to speak, just a locus of points equidistant from the center. Interesting philosophically, but really no help if you're an engineer, I know.

Okay, so I just said a lot of nothing. Has anyone had any similar thoughts?

Luscious graphics — thanks for posting.

Why does their exist a sublime connection in the correspondence between natural mathematics and equations that have been explored and determined by humanity and the ratios and measurements that exist in the natural world?

Because nature exhibits sublime order.

Some observers believe that sublime order is the result of chance. Some believe the exquisite and interdependent intricacies characterising the natural world by definition required outside input.

Example:

All instruction, all teaching, all training comes with intent. Someone who writes an instruction manual does so with purpose. Did you know that in every cell of our bodies there exists a very detailed instruction code, much like a miniature computer program? As you may know, a computer program is made up of ones and zeros, like this: 110010101011000. The way they are arranged tell the computer program what to do. The DNA code in each of our cells is very similar. It's made up of four chemicals that scientists abbreviate as A, T, G, and C. These are arranged in the human cell like this: CGTGTGACTCGCTCCTGAT and so on. There are three billion of these letters in every human cell!!

Well, just like you can program your phone to beep for specific reasons, DNA instructs the cell. DNA is a three-billion-lettered program telling the cell to act in a certain way. It is a full instruction manual.13

Why is this so amazing? One has to ask....how did this information program wind up in each human cell? These are not just chemicals. These are chemicals that instruct, that code in a very detailed way exactly how the person's body should develop.

Natural, biological causes are completely lacking as an explanation when programmed information is involved. You cannot find instruction, precise information like this, without someone intentionally constructing it.

Why must that be so? Ask a mathematician:

Have you ever heard of the “Central Limit Theorem?” - The means (X) of random samples taken from ANY distribution (mean μ and variance σ2) will exhibit an approximately normal distribution (mean μ and variance σ2/n)

In less mathematical terms, it is any of a set of weak-convergence theories. They all express the fact that a sum of many independent random variables will tend to be distributed according to one of a small set of stable distributions.

First quoted by OldThinker in this thread.

Put another way:

The CLT is responsible for this remarkable result:

The distribution of an average tends to be Normal, even when the distribution from which the average is computed is decidedly non-Normal.

Thus, the Central Limit theorem is the foundation for many statistical procedures, including Quality Control Charts, because the distribution of the phenomenon under study does not have to be Normal because its average will be. (see statistical fine print)

Furthermore, this normal distribution will have the same mean as the parent distribution, AND, variance equal to the variance of the parent divided by the sample size...

Source (with illustrations)

Consequently, in the real world random processes to not create DNA.

And if the nautilus and the dragonfly exist as a result of DNA it was one Sublime Mathematician/ Engineer who made them.

thanks for that pause. i love the part about our "intent," as humans, is buried deep down inside of us by way of our double-helixes and our G, C, A & Ts, the same stuff that formed the patterns and sequences we observe in nature ... which, i suppose, is indeed why we see them.

"how did this information program wind up in each human cell?"

i don't necessarily make the jump from this statement to a requisite intelligent designer, but i do admit the ingenuity of the universe.

that patterns from life are everywhere, so dna is everywhere is evident. it just shows that life is connected.

not only do we share an ancestor with chimpanzees. we also share an ancestor with giraffes. and possums and bluebirds and dragonflies and slime molds and shrimp and algae and sunflowers and trees.
