Just for arguments sake... I saw this thing on the ramp doing engine runs in Feb '90. I'd say, (from 22 yrs Army working on AH-1 and AH-64 Attack
choppers) that this thing can easily handle the recoil. Composites are MUCH tougher, though lighter than aluminum. you just have to build in some
recoil absorption so the pilot doesn't rattle his teeth out as the vibrations will be transmitted through that stiff frame. It was a VERY cool plane
to stand beside. Those Rutan guys and Scaled Composites are some awesome brainiac folks!
