China state media accuses Google of political agenda

uk.reuters.com

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's state media on Sunday accused Google Inc of pushing a political agenda by "groundlessly accusing the Chinese government" of supporting hacker attacks and by trying to export its own culture, values and ideas.

In a commentary signed by three Xinhua writers, the state news agency also sought to defend the government's Internet censorship, which Google has cited as one reason the world's largest search engine may quit China.

I think this is just full on mad, China are definatley up too something and i can't help but think the way they treat their own people is just full on, unconventional? to be polite!

obviously the article is about China accusing Google of censorship, i mean after laughing for about a full ten minutes i sat and pondered on how much of the internet China censor...

Internet censorship in China is just completely unreal, i have friends that have travelled there on holiday and used Internet and said it was pretty much like not having Internet, i think this is terrible.

What do guys think? Is this a government plot to control minds, too stop creative free thinkers from breaking out the box of a "normal" lifestyle, or is it simply just a very strict government who like no opposition?
Your thoughts please on the article itself and maybe some other examples of any other governments that have done this to their population...x

Not only internet, of course. I lived in China for a couple of years, just months after Tianenmen happened and saw the propaganda full on at the time. I even bought a book about the riots with images and staged settings, very obvious to me as a cynic. It is a classic example of propaganda and a few friends teaching at university used it to teach media manipulation.

The same things happen in the West, but they are just a lot more subtle.
