Historic, Possibly Deadly Flooding Predicted Swath of U.S.

More than a third of the U.S. faces a high risk of flooding this spring, and Midwesterners may get the brunt of it, according to government forecasters.

Heavy rains last fall, thaw from an unusually wet winter and a potentially wet spring due to El Nino could produce record flooding in some areas, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced late Tuesday.

"We are looking at potentially historic flooding," said NOAA administrator Jane Lubchenco.

a THIRD of the continental U.S. is, on top of everything else, threatened with the possibility of flooding now, according to this news article from ABC News.

So with the increase in seismic activity and the catalyst of fluid saturation, let's see how long the major fault lines within the U.S. stay stable like they have been.

I do not know where these ABC guys get there info. I drove through the Red River area when we had the flooding just a couple years ago. This year it is not even close to the flooding back then. Anyway, what happened with that last flood? The Midwest took care of it, how you may ask? The citizens pitched in and did the job. No need for the federalis to come in and do a damn thing. Just keep them FEMA idiots the hell out of our way and we GOT IT.

More frelling fear mongering by the MSM. The Midwest takes care of ourselves. No need for the NANNY state to get all worked up.

As for the NOAA guy, I think he must be an idiot. HISTORIC FLOODING. Pffft.

No, there was historic flooding back in 86 or 87 I think. That was a real flood year. These people really need to stick there fear mongering where it belongs.

They did include this year's el nino season too. Perhaps they've detected circumstances relating to el nino that historically have proven volatile concerning storm frequency. Who knows...

I for one however think the story may have merit - this year esp. Since we've had a flurry of tsunamis, earthquakes, localized floods, and CME bombardments, why not keep a diligent eye out for tell tale signs of inevitably destructive events at home?

I live in themidwest, flooding is nothng to poo poo here. and yes, anyone who has lived here for any length of time will be listening to the NOAA forecaster, he;s got the stuff right. Every indication so fa this year tells those of us who have lived here for a long time that we are in for it.
luckily I live onth ehighest point in my county- a godsend when it comes to water, but Ive got friends in low place so to speak.

I can guarantee you this year is going to be nasty, fault lines and earthquakes not withstanding.
Maybe your area will stay dry, but even pulling together, mother nature can sometimes get the best of us,
Keep your eyes open folks, the spring floods are headed this way.

Every spring these rivers flood. It is normal. Yes, certain low lying areas are going to get hit.

That is what the spring flood does, every year. I just do not trust these fear mongers.

I live near numerous rivers. EVERY year there is flooding in the spring. If you live in the center part of the country, guess what, it is a FLOOD plain. That is why the center of the US is so fertile. Flood plain.
