AUSTIN – The federal government may soon send unmanned aircraft to scour West Texas and the state's coastal waters in an effort to boost border security, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a letter to the governor sent Friday.

Drones should patrol above Washington DC and New York's Wall Street to take out the real terrorists.

Other than that, it's utter BS.

Drones are already over many US cities ``helping`` with the police state.

Any plans to arm the drones with hellfire missiles? What deterrence will they be without possibility enforcement of border crossing rules?

I have seen low flying planes in day time patrols of likely crossing areas in West Texas. The planes appear to have the ability to land
on unprepared surfaces so they present at least the possibility to land and talk to folks wandering across the desert.
