The world's only immortal animal

green.yahoo.com

The turritopsis nutricula species of jellyfish may be the only animal in the world to have truly discovered the fountain of youth.

Since it is capable of cycling from a mature adult stage to an immature polyp stage and back again, there may be no natural limit to its life span. Scientists say the hydrozoan jellyfish is the only known animal that can repeatedly turn back the hands of time and revert to its polyp state (its first stage of life).

This is simply amazing, A jellyfish that can turn the clock back so it can be young again. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time until scientists find out how they do it, and try and apply it to us. I myself don't want to live forever in this world, but I think that it is just amazing how each day we can find new and wonderful things in this world and our universe...

Fascinating! I wonder if this can be made into a food source? I can imagine whatever predators might enjoy this morsel (Mola/sunfish?) will spike in population too.
