I was looking around on Youtube a few days ago and I came across this video which looked pretty interesting

Sorry if this has been posted before but if this footage is real, then its some of the best that the public has seen. So has this been debunked before or does anybody have anymore information on the case/footage?

I don't know. To me it looks like the aircraft is in a tight turn when you see the object, yet you keep seeing it as if it is turning with the aircraft. If the object was the size of what they show, you would expect the aspect to change as well.

Notice the way that the cigar "ripples" against the clouds? I think it's a shadow of something. Not sure of what; possibly the planes, but I'm not certain that the angles work for it. Heck, maybe it's a shadow of a cigar shaped UFO!

The video is not from a Mig. It is from the rear seat of an F-15. Compare the back of the front seat as seen here.

The object is probably an aerial gunnery target sleeve, towed behind another aircraft. Something as described here:
www.freepatentsonline.com...

Here's one that's been hit a few times.

To JIMC5499:

I was thinking that when I read your post, but when I noticed the plane hadn't made a harder turn when the object picked up speed, your theory seemed a bit off.

To Solasis:

The video is pretty shaky in general. It's coming from an extremely fast moving plane which is most likely shaking while it is recording, giving it the rippling against the clouds sort of look.

Looks to me like the object could have been banking to the right, making it appear as though it had accelerated rapidly. Hard banking can sometimes make an aircraft look like it's travelling much faster than it actually is, based upon the perspective of the person viewing it. Still, a weird object nonetheless

The video is fairly shaky, but the black object is shaking distinctly from the rest of the objects in the video.

Phage's idea sounds pretty likely to me; explains the ripples even more directly than a shadow.

I think it is a shadow of one of the other planes. The pilot does not seem to react to it in any way and all the "estimated speed" and "declasified" crap on the video just makes it look retarded.

G'day Moonman1111

Sorry mate.....

That's been covered on ATS & other sites many times.

It's been shown to my satisfaction (& that of many others) to be a target drone (or similar) that is under tow.

It has also been shown the camera plane is an F16, not a MIG.

I don't have time to look for links for you right now.....I have to go out.

I will look for confirmatory links later, if noone has jumped in before me.

Keep looking!

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

Sorry, I really don't see the similarities.
Care to point them out?

This video (Narrated by Rodger Moore) is from a DVD series entitled "Secret Files of the KGB"

There are a few of them. One on UFO's, another on The Paranormal etc..I remember first seeing the one on Aliens as a young boy and remember not sleeping for some time
...

If you search the dvd in its entirety should be on youtube.

Similarities with the F-15?
The "horns" projecting from each side of the headrest.
The three circular features on the back of the seat.
The large "channel" on the right side.

The plane in the "UFO" video is an F-15, not a Mig.

Nice explanations and all but why did it increase its speed so fast?

If it were a shadow it would have to move at the same speed as the airplanes.

And the drone idea is also invalid because that would suggest the plane towing it would be very fast, unlike the craft we have now.

So am I missing something?

I cant believe how people can mistake a Mig for an F15 or F16, the planes in the video are MIGS!!, please do more research before posting false information, you clearly do not know anything about planes, especially if you confuse a mig with an F15, no offence but they arent hard to get mixed up.

Regards to the video, it is a clear video of 3 russian MIGS chasing a Unidentified Flying Object which we will probably never know what it was.

Regards

The debate is the view from INSIDE the cockpit, the footage that matters where we see the UFO...Not the random stock footage of Mig's taking off

Yes, the external shots are of Migs but unless Migs are using exactly the same seats as F-15s (they aren't) the shots from the cockpit are from an F-15.

In the first place, you are believing the speeds given in the video. Why? They lie about the type of aircraft, why wouldn't they lie about the speeds? We have no way of knowing the actual speed of the aircraft.

But the target does not necessarily increase its speed. The aircraft is in a bank, which means it is in a turn. The target moves slowly across the field of view which means it is also in a turn. If the aircraft reduces its rate of turn and the target does not, the target will move across the field of view faster. This is exactly what seems to be occurring. Notice that the clouds appear to "slow down" at the same time the target "speeds up".

Just by mixing different videos it kinda shows that thie was made to decieve people and is therefore a hoax. There are plenty of less than 10 sec ufo clips, thedid not have to add anything to the video to back up the UFO claim.

Russia does not have UFO technology.
And doubt we would spend a second over their territory.
So can't say why such a video would be produced.

Phage is right: While the jets in the first video clips are MiGs, the cockpit view is that of an F-15. We can also do some research to see if the MiGs had similar cockpits to F-15's.

Judging by the early part of the video which you took some nice screenshots of, each of those jets is a MIG 21, a common model which was mass produced by the Soviets in the 1960's. You can tell by the pointed nose of the craft and the general shape and construction of the plane. [Edit: Also, the narrator specifically says that they are MiG-21's.]

So, I went searching for some cockpit views inside a MiG-21. While I haven't found any direct views of the back of the pilot seat (to see if those three circles are there), I did find This Video taken from the back seat of the jet. Skip to around 2:25 to see the cockpit.

I also found This Video from the back seat of an older MiG-17, which shows the back of the pilot's seat.

I think it's fair to say that the cockpit view in the video is far more similar -- identical, I would say -- to the F-15 cockpit shown in Phage's post, while both of the MiG cockpits are distinctly different, with a heavier, more rounded look.

This seriously reduces the credibility of the video.
