A top police official has warned city officers not to take any action on the job in response to a magistrate's decision to drop criminal charges against a Homewood teen who says he was beaten during his arrest in January.

Since charges were dropped, this badly beaten man must wonder why city police (not officers) "men" deserve respect. So do I. Why random police beatings, as in this case that involved severe injury are tolerated, I'll neve understand. Meanwhile the cops involved get a paid vacation ! Wow how many more words do I need to type to get this system to accept this?

Is the family going to try this civil since the criminal aspect seemed to be bs..

This kid got the piss beat out of him really bad by these guys.. and this kid was a decent kid.. its messed up the cops didnt get charged they should have..

If we beat someone like that we would see at least 10 yrs in prison.

This is what the police had to say..

According to the police criminal complaint, three officers on undercover patrol on Tioga STreet saw Mr. Miles at 11 p.m. Jan. 11. Seeing a heavy object in his coat and indentifying themselves as police, they ordered him to stop.

Mr. Miles ran and the three officers, suspecting he might have a gun and be under the influence of drugs, shot him with a Taser and struck him with their knees and fists. The complaint said the heavy object in his coat turned out to be a bottle of Mountain Dew.

Here is a bio on the kid

Teenager Jordan Miles, a violinist and senior Honor student at Pittsburgh's Creative and Performing Arts high school (CAPA), said he was walking that evening from his mother's house to his grandmother's house.

And the victim states he didnt even have a bottle of pop at all, let alone the dreaded Mountain Dew. I wish i could violate policy and the law and get a paid vacation as the officers involved get to enjoy !

Dont worry, these cops were just the bad apple of the bunch. Besides, we have lots of good cops ratting out the bad apples.

This is about par for the course. The "officers" involved we given awards and recognition. I love Pittsburgh, but I hate Pittsburgh for these types of things.

I wonder if they'll throw a party for those dirtbag cops like the FOP did here in Philly.

Cops geting away with abusing the public is reaching epidemic proportions, at least here in Pa.

This is a very irresponsible and childish reaction by these cops. It would not be right for a judge to ever show favoritism to the testimony of cops to an average citizen off the street. Of course this does happen anyways and this kind of behavior by the cops kind of shows that it does. They are so stunned that a judge would take the word of an average person who claims to have witnessed this incident over their fellow officers that they would consider this childish behavior. That tells you exactly how bad the system and the cops have gotten! I mean truly if it is expected by cops and others that their word be considered with more weight than your average citizen then it's truly a case of guilty until proven innocent! Think about the reaction of these cops. Very sad day for the Pitt PD and American justice all over. I only hope then that more judges consider the cases in favor of the testimony opposing cops. After all their job is to get convictions for crimes not to find the truth.

Unbelievable! The police are gonna have a work slow down because the kid was not charged with a crime for injuring their fists and knees as the beat him to a bloody pulp! Their is no justice anymore.

Yes they were in plain dress. They also didn't identify themselves properly. What's even more disgusting about it is some cops had T-shirts made supporting these criminals and wore them when they marched in the St. Patty's day Parade. A lot of people don't know Pittsburgh has one of the most brutal pds in the country, and the officers always get off.

There was Johnny Gamage beaten to death in Brentwood and officers got off. Then two years ago a unarmed 12 ye old was shoot in the back and killed in Sheraton officers got off. Now this, Pittsburgh was the first city in the country to have a citizens review board even before LA its known as the role model for police brutality, and its a lot more than a few bad apples. And its sickening that these people get suspended with pay that shouldn't exist for any job. In most cases even if found guilty they get to keep their pensions.
