I believe in another life George Carlin was a great thinker. The man is articulate, incredibly perceptive, and brilliant. A lot of what he has to say though would have never gotten out this day and age, so he opted for comedy to try to spread some form of awareness to the masses.

I kinda wish Carlin wrote an extensive book on his thoughts before he died...

Will we be able to celebrate a time of the Great Turning and embrace the higher-order potential of the human nature that can turn crisis into opportunity, and learn to live in creative partnership with one another and the Earth? We face a defining choice between two contrasting models for organizing human affairs: Mechanical and Natural.

Instances of nature deceiving her children are rarer than the instances of a mother deceiving her own children. Electricity failure is a common feature in the highly mechanized modern society. But sun has not failed to light the human society even for once in its billions of years long history. Man may commit evil , nature, never. It only teaches its children lessons.

Back to nature is almost impractical at a time when there is not much nature left and when man is no longer a natural human being. First we have to rediscover our connections with the natural world. The challenge which modern society faces today involves the creation of a new worldview that will enable us to rediscover our connections with the natural world. From the days that reach back to Rousseau, our need for a truly human and ecological civilization has never been greater if we are to rescue our planet and ourselves.
