I probably get a message saying it is in the wrong place.

How many of you ATS members log out of here and feel like a happy jolly person and feel like ATS and speaking to all sorts of people made your day?

How many are really in a bad mood once you log off, truthfully?

I am saying this because instead of it being a community type happy environment it is probably was like this from day one anyway a complete clash of cultures and opinions flaring up more negative energy than happy memories.

Do such debates have a long term effect on people?

Some threads help people and sometimes we all need help and give meaningful answers, which is a good thing, no doubt a majority here would help if someone feels sad or spooked or confused.

One thing it does do with all this debating and writing is to focus the thoughts and mind.

But sometimes that can lead people to feeling less fun in life and in strict conditioned mode of thought, the mind is channelling up the next argument and debate, but my advice is do not let it take over too much. I know people here have loads of points and ATS experience but don't let PCs and TVs take over too much, use ATS as a spring board to help the people around you in real life when your knowledge has accumulated, writing it down is one thing, saying it is another.

Instead of the Internet uniting people it probably divides them too.

I enjoy the website but do some feel maybe this site and other type of forum sites after a while create more arguments than happyness? Maybe there are those trolls everywhere who just like to be nasty.

I rarely take peoples posts personally, I enjoy the read, and the insane ones kinda make me smile also. I also temper it with BTS where there is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, So no I never feel depressed coming off ATS, quite the opposite.

Most of the time I log in happy, stay happy, then leave happy.

Sometimes I will read something that gets me down. Jkrog's passing really tore me up. Or the various news articles that involve a cruel story. I'll admit to getting very upset when pondering the low depths humans can go to. Or reading about corrupt politicians and how hopeless it all feels sometimes.

For the most part, though, I take it all in stride. There's just those threads that get posted every now and then that bum me out and make me sad.

I have learned much from ATS and am happy I am a member. I always come back for more, no matter if the topic makes me happy, sad, frustrated or whatever. I love the diversity of people and opinions.

I quite often feel uneasy after logging off. I feel that ideally, we should all see each other as allies in a grand conspiracy to gain some understanding of reality that is being withheld from us by malevolent forces. But then, the culture clash comes into play. When I find myself siding with one valued ally against the view expressed by another valued ally, disillusionment sets in.

At times like that, when I log off, I feel deep disappointment in myself, as if I've let all my friends down, betrayed their trust. It's kind of a yucky feeling actually.

But if you say I should lighten up, not take myself so seriously, recognize that in the final analysis each of my allies has the mental and emotional capacity to recover from whatever mis-steps I may be guilty of; then I would appreciate it, for that is precisely what I'd like to hear.

Iam happy when Iam here..I never log off just keep checking in throughout the day.
This is home to me..these are my friends here.
I have a filter for BS, and yes sometimes things do get personal here...but no more so than offline.
There is no black and white for me..no online/offline..just a grey.

The www. is neutral, electrons in wires, images on a monitor, disembodied spirits, a diversion, entertainment.

I do care about some of the people I have met here on the web. They have shown me their spirit thru their words.

In the RW, I can look into a persons soul, smell them, touch them, love them.

Big difference!!!

The name idea of The Time Lord is of Dr.Who, no blasphany on my part.

ATS is not a normal pub chat, it does have subjects people don't speak about freely so I guess it is a good outlet of unspoken knowledge which is why the internet is useful and specialises in so many areas.

I guess it gets the andrenalin flowing when trying to justify your view or expand certain knowledge. It does make you feel more educated because it is like homework it self, we learn and analyse many subjects and do the research.

The only hard part is getting the homework in on time as some answers take longer than others to get down.

Better to be educators than refrigerators

I barely even post anymore due to the dumb crap I see on here and the attention seekers I meet on here.(OMG did you see my thread please flag it)
Am I happy when I log off??
Sometimes i would rather go watch paint dry as thats less predictable.
If I can predict what you are doing then you are doing something wrong, stupid and dumb.
Alot of times I can see a thread and say who wrote it before i click on it.
More times then not I am happy to log off and happy I can see what i see.
You people actually make me happy I am me yet depress me enough to not want to bother.

I did have some other theory to this thread which is, if the majority say they are at war with everyone and everyone is annoyed with each other then it is very negative, maybe that could be part of the whole picture where everyone is at odds at each other. If the internet produces more harm on the mind than good then I start to question its long term effect on people, my way of asking how are you coping lately?

I like to hear what people think about it otherwise we could all be suckers to a hidden scheme of hatred towards each other.

The site doesn't really affect my mood at all, and I usually leave myself logged in most days so am on and off like AD.

Yes, if I log on happy I log off happy.

Many times I log on in a bad mood and start feeling much better when I realize I'm not alone in my insanity.

Wish I could log on and off of real life. If only I could shut an idiots mouth in real life by pressing a key.

I love this site...it's home.

I have learned to not allow ATS to affect me much. That's why I spend much more time in BTS.

I don't get angry with people in general, but more the idea that there are such unbelievably diluted citizens of the world who allow themselves to get caught up in truly fruitless endeavors.

I try not to spend too much time in ATS because I know these opinions of the people I'm talking about is my problem. Its not fair, because I was bright eyed and bushy tailed too, and was willing to believe anything ATSers told me.

Just saying I get a little disenfranchised with the political bickering and some of the really fringe ideas.

But if I were to summarize, for all the negativity I see, its about a 90% positive experience and I usually walk away feeling pretty good.

We have to bring into account that the internet can have people joking around a lot, I sometimes have a sense of humour about certain things and say things that is probably more funny to me than anyone else.

But you do get the people who swear and are rude and the trolls let alone the confused or the ones just starting out on a certain subject.

For me I speak about religion a lot and I guess it is not an easy subject as research and cross reference of knowledge is needed.

Well, to me it is just entertainment. There is no way on this earth anything on this site could be construed as "informative".

There are so many ignorant children and young people responding to and believing, without question, the frivolous and silly threads.

I truly believe that "Deny Ignorance"as this sites motto,is a sarcastic joke, perpetrated by the owners.

somedays happy....somedays sad...informed umm, not so sure on that one, but have learned a few things that I would have never seen on MSM

always waiting and looking for that big something to happen...breaking news, insight, I don't know what but something. I am sure it will be here first, so I will return....

cheers
