Across the world, so hot, so secluded
his knuckles white, gripping his rifle tight
holding his life in his hands
Questions filled his head
Why is killing the solution? That answer he knows
To know he had another second to live for his wife
family, comrades, and friends.
Not a minute he's not scared
Continuous adrenaline runs through his veins
He was told to fight for freedom. That is what he's
doing, not wanting to give up
He kills for revenge, he kills to stay alive.
Covered in sweat, he is so tired, so weary.
He can smell death in the air
He looks it in the eyes with every blink he takes
He writes a letter, hoping no one would have to show his wife
It's his will
Everything he worked for, killed for, starved for, sweated for, lost sleep for.
A day is never over for him
eternity it feels like
When he closes his eyes
darkness turns into dead bodies.
It's funny to him, how a grown man
can be so scared to close his eyes
tears fall from his face.
