Allan Savory, a former wildlife conservationist in Zimbabwe, explained in an interview that rotational grazing actually reverses the effects of land degradation. Soil that was once dead has now become thriving grassland thanks to the efforts of ranchers who rotated their large herds.

Animal husbandry+permaculture is the future imo, we need to start shifting away from factory farms and giant mono cropped fields of soy/wheat

Well growing up on a small cattle farm (about 25 head) I can tell you that they are definitely walkin fertilizers, but that only goes so far because it does take a while for the manure to break down and spread the nutrients and seeds. And when you have even a small amount of cattle In one area for any amount time the effect on the soil can be devastating because of the damage from their hooves. when we put them to pasture in the winter you can literally sink in the mud form their constant walking up to your knees.

This type soil damage can lead to some serious erosion if you're not careful.

peace
