Dubai seeks Israeli prime minister's arrest

rawstory.com

Dubai police said Tuesday they are seeking the arrest of Israel's prime minister and the head of its spy agency over the murder of a top Hamas militant in a hotel room of the Gulf city-state.

Police chief Dahi Khalfan said he had issued the demand for the arrest warrants as he was now certain they ordered the Cold War-style hit on Mahmud al-Mabhuh.

"I have presented the (Dubai) prosecutor with a request for the arrest of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and the head of Mossad," Meir Dagan, said Khalfan.

"I am now completely sure that it was Mossad," said the police lieutenant general.

This could get interesting.

Prolly won't though.

Dubai is of course a US ally, insofar as it is a reasonably secular arab state. but after the credit crisis Dubai has been looking east instead of west, at least to a degree.

Now it's choosing to become the focal point of what will surely be seen in some quarters as anti-Israel(i) activities.

What will win?

The rule of law?
Israel Protectionism?

And what's next?
Reprisal killings...?

Only time will tell.

Yes, i can just imagne the two of them going quietly to the nearset Dubai police station and saying -
"Hello, im the president of Isreal, and this is my companion the head of MOSSAD. I believe your are wanting to question us about an unpaid parking fine????".

I think this Leiutenant from Dubai should move to the US...maybe he´d have the balls to paper those responsable for 9/11.

In a week when all this has blown over this guy will be driving a state tow truck on parking duties.

If Israel has threatened the "mad dog " approach.. I am not sure how to view this, are some trying to push for all out War, while others paint themselves as target..

I am simply not sure how all this fits in..

Something is going on behind the scenes, itchy trigger fingers and all that.. It just does not make me feel comfortable this is all going to end with happy smiley faces.

I agree. It will end in bloodshed. That's how it works. The only cheeks that turn in the middle east are of those 'mooning' another.

I'm thinking this is a direct result of the US's weakened stance protecting the sovereignty of Israel. Since Obama has put restrictions on what Israel must do for us to recognize it as a nation, Arab states are moving in with their own demands. Though this is quite possibly going to cause another war in the middle east between all of the Arab states and Israel, it could quite possibly end with the Palestinian conflict ending and peace actually existing in the middle east. Though not the best option, maybe Obama figured all out war there would be the best way to resolve the issue.

Or maybe he thought that, by pulling the US hand from Israel, Israel would simply cease to exist and peace would ensue as a result of that. However, he has some great advisers, and I can't imagine they're all that ignorant.
