Tonight is the 'Snow Moon' be sure and get a look! It is full and close and extremely bright! Normally I cannot get a good pic of the moon with my lil camera but last night I think it actually took a good picture, now if I can only find my usb cord........it is also known as the 'full bone moon', check out this link to see why:

I noticed this yesturday, you could almost read a book outside. I have also noticed the same brightness of the moon last year. So this has happened before and I remember it being that bright at night on rare occasions as a child.

It's too foggy here to see the moon tonight... bummer.

At about 11:30 p.m. PST we noticed that there was a huuuuuuuuuuuge ring around the moon. Maybe not a "ring" but like what they call a punch out cloud - the sky was very hazy (chemtrails and let's not jump all over me about that one please : ) but the sky was clear in a perfect huge circle around the moon. I've seen what seemed like "halos" or whatever but nothing so huge. I'd never seen that before. Interesting.

I'm in Oregon and I noticed this also tonight. I stepped out to have a smoke after dark and was a little surprised at how bright it was outside. Definitely bright, but not too out of the ordinary IMO. Actually, whats more weird to me is that I live in one of the most overcast and rainy States in the Union and I happened to have a clear night this evening to see the moon and reply to this thread!

I am in Oregon also and The moon is brighter than I have ever seen it at any other time. I live in the boonies and I go out and look at the moon and stars every night, tonight is definitely different.
My dogs are acting weird also, I know its a full moon and all, but something is weird.
Maybe it has to do with all the earthquakes.

I am in Arkansas and because of how I sleep at night I look directly up at the night sky and it struck me that the moon was really bright white and I thought it was just me but now I feel much better that I am not the only one that has seen it so bright.

Now what it means is another topic, but I still find that it is indeed strange for the moon to be so bright as if the Sun was more something and was making the moon show that extra whatever energy that is being radiated.

It's a good topic for a scientist to answer.

Thanks for the posting. I feel better knowing I'm not going crazy.

In Iowa, as soon as I got on the road I saw the moon, spent most of my drive (on the interstate) looking at it. It is a full full moon. I do some art work and I was particularly inspired to illustrate the moon tonight, I didn't but still recall what it looked like and I can say that I will within the next few days, it wasn't an ordinary moon...

In France too, the moon was particularly bright yesterday night. I think it was to celebrate my twentieth anniversary

Anyway, I had been lucky enough to spend my night in the countryside, and yes, the moon was brighter than usual, even though I wouldn't call it paranormally bright... Even though I spent like half a hour starring at it, like hypnotized.
Also, there were low and dark clouds near the moon. They weren't blocking its light, but you could see it reflecting on their upper sides : just wonderful.

Yeah, like I said previously, to meit was liking looking at a halogen lightbulb. I have seen some awfully big and bright moons, but the one we had here two nights ago was unusual indeed.

I too have noticed this in Australia. It may be a case of transient lunar phenomenon which convieniently are irreproducible and do not possess adequate control experiments that could be used to distinguish among alternative hypotheses. Ill be keeping an eye out more often in future.
