I just came across this on Swedish news;

After a controversial battle between Google and the Chinese government, China has decided to launch their own search engine: Goojje.

So, I thought I should try it out.

Not a single english letter on the page, but it seems to work just like the original.
Of course I had to try out some search terms that would totally sound the alarm in the "Middle Kingdom".
Dalai Lama: No problem. I have no idea how many hits I got, but it seems to be numerous. Even dalailama.com is linked to and the recent meeting between His Holiness and the US President Obama.
Tibet Freedom: Nothing to report here either. There is even a link to the "Radio Head Tibet Freedom Festival". That's a little odd...
But then I got it; the worst taboo in China:
Falun Gong: Jackpot! I got disconnected! Tried it over and over, both at home and at work.

I have no idea where this thread is going, I guess I just wanted to inform you guys.

Here are some links for further reading:

Thank you OP for this sad news. Flag for you.

And to all you progressives take a good hard look at what you are fighting for. This is your future if you win you will not get any special treatment for towing the line. The diversity czar at the FCC Mark Lloyd thinks things like this are a good thing. Wake up before it is to late. Freedom of speech is the most important right.

Sometimes you think you are doing the right thing but in reality you are not. It is very hard to look forward that is why we must study the past and learn from it.

It let me see the page for a split second before send me to a blank page that said "GAE" at the top and nothing else. when i tried to go back i got the 404 error.

and now its showing me GAE again.

strange. that blows.

a google search for "gojje" came up with this

Gojje.com is the 232140:th largest site within .COM. The site is using the IIS web server. The programming language used on the site is C# or VB.NET (ASP.NET) and the main language used for the site's textual content is Norwegian. The site was launched on Monday, February 1, 2010. The server that hosts gojje.com is located in Woodstock, United States and is running Microsoft Windows. The server is located on the FDCservers.net network.

serversiders.com...

it says their server is based out of woodstock and the site is written in norwegian.

i dont think you have your story straight here. if it was a chinese site, wouldnt it end with the chinese web suffix? and most of all....wouldnt it be hosted IN china?

edit...ok well now that i spelled it correctly it works. let the tomfoolery begin.

I think im gonna start with "China buys fake gold from fort knox"

Sorry 'bout that.

Kewl.

I am looking at the subliminals in the logo. Why do we have a geisha with a red dot in her forehead? Is the paw a tiger paw? The 'e' seems to contain the tiger tail and the tall J looks like a samuri sword.

I had no trouble getting info on Faulon gong; a whole page came up.
Goojje also links to ATS!

Hmm, that's odd.
With that spelling, it does give you hits.
But as far as "Falun Gong" and "Falun Dafa", it just gives you connection troubles... How very strange.

The paw is like the paw in Baidu, the most popular search engine in China.
I doubt China, the government, launched this site...

edit : hey ! Geishas are japanese

Right you are!

The Henan Business Daily said Goojje was founded by a female college student in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. Contacted by Reuters, Goojje’s web host declined to give details on the site’s owner.

The article is interesting. Is it a call for less censorship by an individual ?
Google will then certainly support it, right ? They won't ask it shut down because of intellectual property...

every couple of hours it lets me through to the site, i'm able to get 2 or 3 uncensored searches in before a block gets put on me.
