Hmm...
And yet the government is supporting the UAW workers at 100% salary and 100% benefits while they sit and twiddle their thumbs...

What is wrong with this picture?
I guess every company should have equal government lobbyist benefits.

MOST people in Communist countries do not work. There is no work. You are totally dependent on rations, donations, monthly food they give you if you get there early enough and you have your card/voucher/mark of the Beast...
It goes according to the size of your family. Now, this doesnt seem so bad right?
You may ask, who pays the bills, the house? Well, the house does not belong to you anymore. You may be allowed to live in it, but it belongs to the government.
Forget about upkeep- you let it deteriorate.
Forget the bills! Yeahhhh! No more worries! Since you do not own a damn thing, not to worry. Its all rationed and provided for you. Electricity and heat, according to how much heat and electricity you are allowed.

This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to gather in the streets, shoot the breeze, and of course, the biggest opponent of the government, your good friend Joe...is secretly passing on information to the government for more perks for his family. YOU, who insinuated, are not happy with the current conditions, meet an awful death in the middle of the night.

This is just wonderful.

I worked with someone who came to the US from the USSR for medical reasons, and that is not the way she explained it to me. As a matter of fact, she actually liked it there more then here. Over there, if you do not work, you starve or your family takes you in, there is no unemployment or welfare. You are given three jobs in your lifetime, if you mess up badly and get fired all three times your SOL... On the other hand, if you wanted to have extra stuff, and were a good worker, you could get additional jobs to supplement your income. Not that I am touting their system, but you are regurgitating cold war propaganda, not truth.

She used to claim that people here were lazy and pampered by comparison.

Honey, i lived it when i was little. I remember, i have the memories. Besides, i didnt grow up in Russia. Perhaps their system was a tad different than where i grew up?

How dare you say i'm regurgitating crap. Get a life. All your friend has ever known is the system he/she grew up with, perhaps Communism is acceptable to someone who has never known anything else? I resent you jumping down my throat, why in the world would i want to spread propaganda? BECAUSE I LIVED IT AND I KNOW ALL ABOUT IT, THATS WHY.

Deny ignorance.

And another thing, you are an old pro around here, why dont you ask a few questions before you go jumping down peoples throats? Dont you know better, "DOCUMENT ARCHIVIST"????

She was from the Ukraine, the area near Chernobyl , which is why she was over here in a tropical climate.

There is a lot of Cold War propaganda that still exists in this country, not all of it is true. I made an assumption based on your post that was where your information was coming from. I mean, don't take it personally, I was quite shocked about what she told me myself after growing up here in the US. It certainly did not sound like the evil USSR that I had been lead to believe in.

I do not see where I jumped down your throat, and if it came across that way it was not my intent. I was simply stating what I had been told by someone who came from there.

Perhaps you were idle. In any case, not all communist countries are created equal, at least not in the beginning. I was talking about the process i experienced. And its true.
