Thanks for trying to help, In my case the noise is in my head, I go camping out in the bush and the hum follows me. Been to doctors, Nothing found to be wrong. I personely belive it is from a low frequency transmition By nature or what ever. A bit like the tuff book i use for work the frequency is heard by the guys who are in thier late 20s to 30s. Most likely generated by the CPUs.

Regards, rob.

You my friend are not the only one who's heard the wierdness in our skies. One night early Jan of this year, i was out side and i heard the same hum, it wasnt coming from a house, no a/c units, It sounded like it was coming from the sky southwest to my direction on my right side. I had my brother step out to see if he could hear it, and all he could hear was the a/c unit on the house on our left.. and Other family members have said to have heard unusually loud noises in the sky that wake them up out of their sleep, one even said it sounded like the end of the world, that could just be the sound of a jet engine or something taking off as you described above, nevertheless there has been alot of strange ongoings and you will be hearing more from me soon, Carry on

well if the sound is going all night and is not man made maybe it's related to solar or lack of solar
activity.
i hear stuff too..sometimes tinnitus related..sort of as if a gigantic space fan was blowing from on high.
maybe you hearers and picking up on vibes that indicate stuff going on below earth's surface.
i am not very smart and my imagination could soar like that of a child so you don't want my opinion..
just thought i'd throw in my 2 cents worth without saying it's in your head for it may not be at all.
now if you were hearing a frequency that others could not hear maybe it would disturb the animals who
can hear it as well. or maybe it's like a vibration that your brain interprets as sound. or maybe even
the land mass around you acts like a parabolic dish and picks it up and it focuses in on you..here i go
again using my childish imagination !!!

Let the hum in. Breathe. Let the hum fill your whole body. Surrender yourself to the hum. Stop fighting it. It is only when you surrender you will defeat it. I promise you this.

This will provide a moments relief for you ;

what are you talking about? all I hear is the hum of my computer, the hum of power boxes outside and other things that go hum.

Are you sure your not just going deaf?

I think the sound might be back for me. It's hard to say. There's a lot going on with ice on the road and trucks salting and plowing. I need to let the weather clear up and rule out those sources. There is the low frequency vibration but in addition to that when I go to bed at night and it doesn't matter what time, I hear what sounds like an ordinary jet rumble overhead but it goes on and on and on for a lot longer than you'd expect for a plane passing through and it recurs. I heard it also when I went out to walk my dog but couldn't see a plane because of clouds and a bit of early morning fog.

As for the deep low frequency vibration, we call the hum, I hear and feel it now. I detected it outdoors as well. I am not going to assume it's the same thing I experienced before. I need to see how it goes over the next week or so.

We are still waiting for the answer to ONE simple question-DOES ANYONE ELSE IN YOUR HOME HEAR THIS?

YES or NO

Sounds like you are sensitive to low vibrations whereas some people are sensitive to high vibrations. Ask a doctor to check your ears out in case there is a medical problem or to rule it out.

In my case my husband was not sure. It seems like at times he could but not as strongly as I could. Overall his own answer would be no. The sounds I'm hearing now...I don't know. I'll ask him.

Some interesting things are coming together as I peruse this site. A poster named Chupacobra posts a link to a really interesting site that discusses how we are affected by and may affect the magnetic frequencies of the planet. There is a lot of reporting by a lot of us who have had sleep disturbances or felt woozy or dizzy lately. The thread is here and I link to page six where Chupacobra's post is www.abovetopsecret.com...

This all may relate to the weird noises and hums some of us are experiencing. It may not. I'm just putting it out there for consideration. Careful consideration. Even if all the pieces seem to fit, it doesn't mean they really do.

Rossa... Do a SEARCH under notknowing and you will find the answer to that question which used to be Yes. Including my dogs which have since passed due to cancer (for both). How weird that no one posted for a long, long time and all of the sudden everyone comes out of the woodwork...

The strongest I have heard the HUM was on 2/17/2010 here in South Florida and April 2009 (?) in Puerto Rico. I would say the source of the HUM is near Puerto Rico somewhere....Also, a long time ago, I posted somewhere that I thought it might have something to do with the SUN... Since, it seems to get stronger at night when the SUN is not there... I hear it inside and outside, louder inside because the walls amplify the sound.

It would be nice to know what causes this and why only some sense it. What is inside MY brain that allows me to be aware of this HUM. It goes deep in your brain, not just a sound. To those who don't hear or sense it, be glad.
Were any of you who hear it, born premature? I was 2 months premature and have wondered if somehow that has something to do with my ability to hear this.

To all with curious minds and investigative abilities...

Here's something that happened on the same day (2/17/2010) as when the HUM was very strong here in South Florida:

Do you think this "accident" is related???

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba(Canada) and I sometimes hear a musterious hum, but more often 'booms' late at night. Just recently I was talking to a friend over windows live messenger who also lives in the same city, and I asked 'what are those booms, can you hear them?', they replied that it was probably someone shooting off fireworks. The question was forgotten, and then about an hour later I said 'hey those booms are still happening, they can't be fireworks' and they replied back that 'oh yeah' there still going on. The subject was forgotten again in chatting.

If I listen at night, it is usually nightly(when I remember to) late in the night about 11 mp + or into the early morning. I have heard loud noises after the No Flying Time so I know it's not airplanes taking off and landing either. It is rather strange.

I have been hearing the hum for sometime now,i even made a thread on it That irritating noise, trying to find a answer on hearing this, but was met with ridicule and implying i had a mental condition are tinnutis, This is what i hear a humming that goes up and down, seems to come internally, not from outside source, hear it constantly always from right ear,my daughter also hears it to,Doesn't matter where i am at outside inside it is always there

It's not likely tinnitus. I do have tinnitus and the whistling sound that makes is completely different and easily distinguished. In all these years my tinnitus has not worsened except for when some medicines aggravate it, and even then it is a bearable whistle. So don't worry, I believe you when you say it isn't that.

Are those of you who are able to hear the hum also very sensitive to cold air hitting your ears? I get terrible ear aches if I forget to wear ear muffs or a hood out in the cold. My ear nose throat doc once told me I just have some extra sensitive nerves a bit closer to the opening of the ear canal and close to the surface. My dad has the same issue.

perhaps you have extra sensory perception.....you know how animals hear sounds that we humans can not hear? Maybe you have a gift....you should try to see if the humming intensity varies based on any kind of strange phenomena happening......

wow very interesting

If nobody else hears it maybe you have tinnitus? Tinnitus can and is very distressing to many many people and often relaxation techniques help.

There are also devices made to keep rodents/pets/young people away from certain areas by emitting an irritating sound. Perhaps your ears are still like those of young people and there is such a device around?

A third possiblity is that you could just be hearing your own blood. There is no such thing as total silence (well I don't know about deaf people!) but if you were locked into a sound proof room alone you'd still be able to hear the hum of your own blood rushing around your veins.

Wikipedia's take on the hum:

"The Hum is a generic name for a series of phenomena involving a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming noise not audible to all people. Hums have been reported in various geographical locations. In some cases a source has been located. A Hum on the Big Island of Hawaii, typically related to volcanic action, is heard in locations dozens of miles apart. The local Hawaiians also say the Hum is most often heard by men. The Hum is most often described as sounding somewhat like a distant idling diesel engine. Typically, the Hum is difficult to detect with microphones, and its source and nature are hard to localize."

No i am not senstive to the cold, and the only way i can describe what i hear is imagine a television channel going off air,but instead of the steady sound mine flunates to high and low tones,it sounds like the channel going off air but with the high and low tones
