Regardless of who you will vote for in the election this year I thought this was interesting.

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of
January..... in the fair city of Detroit (Michigan) there were 35 murders
in the month of January. That's one American city folks, about as deadly
as the entire war torn country of Iraq!

Worst president in history?

The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper as a letter to the
editor.

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They
complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush
was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point: We
didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by
terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.

Lincoln allowed the US to fall into civil war. How would you like a nice
Civil war today? You could go and kill your out of state relatives!

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never
attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333
per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never
attacked us. I think history might show Eisenhower committed the troops
and Kennedy was honoring that commitment.

Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were
lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never
attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has
liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put
nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,
and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We
lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year. Bush did all this abroad
while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch
Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time
than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police
after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in
Florida!!!!

Something to think about !! Don't forget to go out and vote..it's you constitutional responsibility or don't COMPLAIN !!

i espically like the last 2 lines. enjoy!

I have one question.....how can you say the WAR in Iraq is over? As far as I'm concerned, if one...count it one American soldier is still dying in Iraq....the WAR is still going on. So, your e-mail is null and void!!!! Don't say the war is over until there is a day gone by when our heros are not shot upon...thank you very much. Just because Bush strutted around saying "the war is over" does NOT make it so.

It also takes a president to pull troops out, like that's going to happen. I tell you what, if Bush is re-elected and he pulls the troops from Iraq, as long as it's not to deploy them to another soveriegn nation, I will not only jump on his bandwagon, I will paint it and pull it, by myself.

Please. He showed incredible courage and leadership by bombing an aspirin factory with cruise missiles. History will note the effectiveness of this maneuver.

Hey, It got the American people's mind off the Lewinsky case for awhile didn't it? So, in effect, I think it did work.

If George Bush pulls out of Iraq and concentrates on helping the American people, I will back him. And I'm a Brit !!!

Those last two sentences were good points...

I heard on the radio this morning (am of course because i find fm god awful)

that 600 libertarians are in higher up political positions, and that they are going to have a better chance because g.w has bad ratings and the liberals are getting anti-liberal and more socialist.

So yeah go out and vote people and don't be a fool .... Meaning don't be thinking " what government can offer me more"
Live for yourself ...It's all about personal responsibility... Vote libertarian...

That is one of the few things Bush can do which will cause him to lose my backing. If we pull out of Iraq now, Iraq will erupt in anarchy, civilians will be killed to the point of making the Congo look like a paradise, and eventually Iran will probably move in. If you're concerned with the welfare of humanity, we need to stay there. Agree or disagree with the causes of the war, it was begun, and to not finish it would result in so much suffering...That's one thing I agree with Kerry on.

If, however, you are only concerned with American lives, and don't care about "our little brown friends in the south" (Woodrow Wilson), then, yes, Bush should pull out. Damn the rest of the world, the only people that deserve freedom and saftey are Americans. (I disagree with this point, by the way)

JJ, I'm not an American, but I care for the troops. I think that the focus should be put on putting an Iraqi gov't in place, which is in the works, then begin withdrawl. If that is what happens then I may reconsider my thinking on Bush.

Pisky, being in Iraq does help the American people (and the world), the eventual establishment of an Arab Democracy in the Middle East is of paramount importance in defeating radical Muslim Fundamentalism. Until we get a generation or two of Muslims living in such a country; there will be a viable Arab Street resistance to any Western influence. These people (before you ask, yes I've been there) have been living under one thumb or the other (be it a Shah, or a radical Imam). Find a bunch of kids in the West that will rush to strap explosives to their bodies and fling themselves headlong into Paradise. You can't, they have something to live for, even if it's only the long awaited release of HALO 2. We are soft (in terms that we have a future), but that is our strength, and that is how Communism was defeated, and in the end the eventual demise of the Fundamentalist will be ushered out with not a "Bang!", but the whimper of their own failings.

KrazyIvan, that e-mail that you received makes some very good points, but people who hate Bush will keep trying to find some way of trying to make Bush look bad.

I've seen you go all Libertarian lately, but in this pro-war thread? From what I read NO ONE is more against the war than Libertarians. I get Liber-newsletters out the wazoo about zero troop commitments. Iraqi welfare. GWB spending in Africa. They're xenophobes. Not that I'm against that, but I just never heard of any pro-GWB/Iraqi quagmire Libertarians. I'm not saying you are either...guess I'm asking.

And no I don't count Boortz talk radio. He went just went Libertarian in 96 for survival. He's still a Republican.

Crazy Libertarians , 20,000 tring to move to NH to assert their collective political power while maintaining they want government to be less intrusive . I don;t understand how trying to seize political control thru their masses will actually lead to a less intrusive government . I am from NH and want to go back one day , but find the freedoms offered there are being used for political advantage . Live Free or Die trying . good luck!
