How do you feel about moving political madness forum to belowtopsecret?

The stuff in there is rarely if ever actual conspiracy related...its almost always little more than whatever a partisan "news" website puts up for the only purpose of causing a stir. It swarms the board with non-conspiracy related subjects, almost entirely populated endlessly with a small handful of people, erupts into little more than flamewars, and constitutes far more of the "newest threads, active threads" than it deserves on a conspiracy website.

Yes, we got it...you dont like the other side...now can you stop posting absolutely every piece of junk from your partisan nonsense webpage unless its a profound and real conspiracy with some supporting evidence to be rationally discussed?

broad political conspiracys certainly have a place on ATS...but political madness is rarely if ever about that...

alternatively, if that doesn't happen, then how about you put in a "venting" board for everything...what religion is the best religion, what haircut is the best, etc.

move this to rant.

Politics have everything to do with conspiracys. People in politics control us, make the rules be it taking our rights or hiding the truth.

For me I say keep it in ATS because it can be a heated topic.
BTS is the place I go to relax in.
I say keep the politics on ATS

I fully agree with this poster (Thecrow001)

for all the reasons he/she has mentioned

Further, I question why anyone would want political content

to be pushed out of sight ?

I'm becoming more and more suspicious of certain posters

I can see why Obama supporters would love to make criticism of him disappear.

Leave political madness where it currently is.

Thank you!

exposing political conspiracys certainly deserves to be on ATS.

But when posts have absolutely no merit whatsoever for a conspiracy, then why is it even posted on a conspiracy board?

Heres the deal, I can endlessly post political rantings...endlessly...there are tons of websites out there that post blogs, general partisan nonsense without conspiracys, etc...just opinion pieces and bull-pucky. I can destroy the recent posts with my infinate amounts of posting so that ATS largely becomes a political flamewar board.

Why would I not do that to begin with? well, mostly because I respect what ATS stands for and the intent behind it.

Political madness is not about exposing conspiracys...its about ranting about how your side is great, or how dumb the other side is...its void of conspiracys and in my opinion, even less relevant than skunk works.

so my question in return is simple...why would you want to turn ATS into little more than a political flame wars board devoid of well thought out conspiracys?

Ahh, ok, its just Obama supporters. Well then, I guess if you cant beat em, then join em...prepare for every liberal talking point that ever comes out to be dumped into political madness...wouldn't want to stifle my free speech now, would you?

I think I can actually make a small java program that automates the procedure also, running it 24/7. any liberal talking point posted in the world anywhere = immediately on political madness...can also use a base content grabber to post a leadin also.

do you really not see a problem with this mentality btw? If not, then certainly you wont have a problem with it I guess if it does happen.

I agree with this sentiment too. If I could give you a star I would but this is the wrong forum for that. This is thread is less of a question and more of a rant that in itself belongs on BTS.

If you don't want to talk politics then don't but if you don't want politics talked about then people should be very suspicious of the motive.

This would be awesome! Destroying liberal talking points is a hobby of mine! This plan would keep me and other conservatives very busy. I know you meant this as a threat, but please do what you can to implement this. I'm waiting anxiously!

There is an option, in the top right corner of the Recent Posts page, to "Omit Political Madness" from showing on the Recent Posts page.

That should help you filter out that forum. As well, there is an option to "favorite" forums which will then be listed on your My ATS page. You can then go to account settings and cutomize your Recent Posts Page to show only the formums that you have selected.

u2u me if you would like further explanation on how to do this...

Not sure if its the lack of braincells at work here, or willfull ignorance and intimidation of suggestions...but for some reason, your clearly ignoring the wording and going with a simplistic and unrelated suggestion to trash on.

Political dissent is fine, healthy, and encouraged in my opinion. What pisses me off to no end is the endless non conspiracy, non above top secret potential. If its on television as a general talking point, then grrreat, and we HAVE a political forum...actually, there are 6 political boards on here that are meant for actual theories and noting conspiracys.

political madness is a forum to express no conspiracy, just musings of how one side or the other sucks. If ATS is a political board, then explain to me what ATS stands for to begin with...(hint, its in the URL name)

So...if you think my suggestion of moving the non-conspiracy board to a non-conspiracy forum is somehow wildly amazing and dumb, then clearly you have no concept of what ATS is meant for.

Explain to me what the difference between political madness is with the other 6 political conspiracy boards please...then please explain to me the concept of ATS is...finally tell me how you see they fit.

Actually, that is quite helpful. sorta newish here so didn't know about that option. That solves my issue overall. ok, carry on (incidently, I would like to suggest a Religious madness board to stroke some good flamewars).

carry on then and enjoy your flamewars. :-)

-edit - add: bugger, that didnt help, no option to simply dismiss PM from all aspects of popping up. Would suggest tailor made interfaces based on preferences, but I know how difficult that is to initiate (ajax plugs could handle that) into design mode without it turning into a mess. oh well, guess I will simply control myself from going into flamewar threads..(.still say they are a epic distraction to the intent of the site..but thats your call)

The American Political Madness forum is one of the most aptly named forums for what is going on in the US at the moment. from an outsiders point of view its like watching some weird sit com.

Yes. Yes. yes.

Personally, the partisan political spit-balling just degrades ATS.

One man's opinion: mine.

But to a degree it is its own BTS on ATS. Moving it to BTS would only cause for the same style posts to appear in the other political threads. A way to do a lght dusting vesus spring cleaning on a 24/7 basis.

But sometimes a question implies a conspiracy, yet the response will not address it because of the hot button reactionary nature of politics. There has been more than one thread in there that could go on the other political boards, but not all replies would conform to that board.

There was a forum called The Mud Pit at one time. US Political Madness is similar of a board but nowhere near as messy and heated as that one was.

If it helps, think of the forum titled Political Controversy as most discussions are more controversial than conspiratorial in nature. Keep in mind there are bound to be some discussions that take place in U2U's and inspiration found for another topic in large and heated threads.

I disagree, Political Maddness allow us to chronical the decline of the American republic by highlighting all of the hypocracy, corruption and phoney partisan bickering within the American system.

It allows us to post stories to stoke our anger at the political establishment and hopefully spur us to take action.

If anything we should drop the "American" form the title. America isn't the only country with political insanity taking place. It would be interesting to hear stories about what's going on in the rest of the world as well.

Also, political maddness makes a good catch-all for stories when we aren't sure which forum fits best.
