The UK Government, who are wasting billions each year on quango’s, corruption (the recent expenses fiasco being the tip of the iceberg), European bureaucracy, illegal wars etc, are looking to raise cash by selling of the country piece by piece.

online.wsj.com...

I may be naive – but I find this shocking, disturbing (and verging on the illegal ....Magna Carta?or is this over-ruled by the Lisbon Treaty too?) and cannot be in the interests of the British people (the countless souls who have fought and died for this country must be turning in their graves) or “national security” a premise for which we all have to spied on and listened to 24/7.

A quick google search gave me the following list – items up for sale (or looking into how to sell it) in the last 24 months, and I suspect that there is far more to come:-

1 – The Port of Dover (including the white cliffs which are a national emblem) for sale to the French / Rothschild’s – depending upon which media outlet you look at.

2 – The Dartford Crossing

4 – The Governments shares in Urenco (responsible for enriching uranium for the nuclear industry)

5 - The Tote

6 – Public Sector workers!!!! – they bundle them up (hypothetically) into packages - for example, IT services or Human Resources – value their potential and sell the package to the highest bidder (the individuals may not even be aware they are being sold)

7 – Unspecified real estate owned by the government

12 – British Waterways (including all canal side properties)

Methinks we are already on the road to ruin.. but have been on that path many times in the past.. the elite have sold it, we stole it back, the next elite sell it, we steal it back again..

We are very good at stealing things, look how a few chaps go off under the pretense of looking for new flowers, spices and animals and come back with an Empire.. tut tut.. Captain "light fingers" Cook has a lot to answer for..

Who was it started all this privatisation malarky? The Tories under Thatcher!
So much of the country's infrastructure was sold off to private corporations and bankers. Problem was, WE the public had already built and paid for that which was sold off, yet we received nothing for it. They dangled the carrot of shares at people, telling us all how we could become shareholders, when of course the reality was that the majority of shares in the privatised utilities would go to financial institutions. To cap it all, we are still paying a lot of those privatised industries, especially public transport, vast sums in subsidy every year, so that they can carry on operating. Now maybe I am missing something here, but isn't the idea of a private company to put up it's own money to operate with, and if they cannot then they cease to do business? Must be nice to have friends in Government!

As for the current crop of sell-offs, it's just more of the same that has been happening for years. The taxpayer builds and maintains something, the gtovernment then sell it off to a private operator, who then charges us to use it.

Do you feel as I do that the issue will bite them on the behind??

In my opinion the Lib-Lab-Con has gone on long enough.. I have one of those sneaky feelings that at some point soon(ish) people will say, enough is enough.. my thoughts are that will happen when the gov (any of them) starts down the rout of digging into our pockets to pay for the bailouts.

I sure do feel that way.

No matter how many laws they pass banning protests from around parliament, or how many police thugs they put on the street to beat people, we still outnumber them by a long way. They need us a hell of a lot more than we need them, they should be reminded of that from time to time.
Trouble is, many people seem to think, and are indeed now conditioned to expect, that WE need them to tell us what to do and how to do it. Sure, they'll bitch about it sometimes, quietly and out of earshot of the politicians, but are too conditioned to do anything to stop the rot.

The mainly 2 party system has run it's course, to the point where it is pointless voting, given that the leadership of both main parties answer to the same big money and globalist backers. There is now little or no representation of the people, only the requirement for us to do as we are told or suffer the consequences. The freedom we have is the freedom to shut the hell up and do as we are instructed...and keep paying the taxes of course!

BBC should be sold off. No reason for a publicly funded media outlet - especially since we are paying for it (TV license)

Public sector should be small and in competition with the private sector because the markets can generate more wealth than the state. Large scale public sector results in big government-which is tyranny.

I've come to the conclusion that we are in a modern version of the serf system, our consumer based debt servitude has to end at a point.. and I think we are fast reaching breaking point...

This is why I think a war, any way is probable right now so the elite can hold and reinforce their power over the people.. hence why the Tories have said they would support an attack on Iran..

Iran has the same internal issues, and their elite like ours want to maintain control so they can do as they please.. like ours is giving our money away and then selling off anything they can..

Society is in need of a restart.. I just hope it won't be a painful one.. but I am sure it is coming..

The greedy pig virus has truly spread around the world, and caused great hardships and suffering

Public sector, as in government as a whole, should be small. However, they should not be in competition with the private sector at all. They should either provide the service, lock stock and barrel, or hand it over entirely to the private sector, with NO public subsidy at all. Isn't that what private enterprise is all about? What we have seen, and still do today, is the taxpayer propping up private sector operators, a big case of private profits, public debt. That is nothing short of criminal and slap in the face to the tax paying public.

I'd rather see the public transport system renationalised and run properly than the £Millions in subsidy it receives from the government, while the big shareholders and board members of the franchise owners order another large G&T at the club to celebrate another round of profits and bonuses.

Why does this come as any suprise to anyone?

Remeber Thatcher selling off the family silver?
The ironic thing was that initially she sold it to those who already owned it, who in turn made a very small profit who then sold it to big investors etc.
Result?
All utilities in this country now owned by German and French corporations who are slowly milking this country dry.
Sold council houses to existing tenants, who already lived in these houses.
No new council houses built.
New home owners forced to buy private thus feeding the spiralling costs of homes, something we are still paying the price for now!

Regardless of which party is in power, nothing is sacred to these corrupt and self promoting politicians who seem intent on selling this country down the river for their own personal aggrandizement.

We need a new and modern levelling of the land which for once and for all put's the care's and concerns of the people of this country first and not those of some self important politicians who are in search of a quick buck and / or are promoting the interests of some remote elite who feel they have a god given right to do as they wish regardless of our consent or well being.
