Orbital satellites containing military grade laser typical technologies will soon be announced... but not in the form of an arbitrary news press conference. It will be in the form of observation based reporting, which will in turn ultimately lead to disclosure. At present that information is classified, and I'll be shot dead in 15 minutes!

But before they can find me... here's more info!

They are easy to maintain, have no degradatory life expectancy - unlike other technologies - and are empowered by capacitor bearing photo-voltaic systems. They also possess tactical redeployment logistics that can relocate and maneuver them to ideal orbital positions based upon the chooser's commands. Each orbital pod carries three movable devices, two for deep field deployment and a centrally located device for parameter self defense. That device is guided by movement based optical technologies which alert the monitor of near vicinity objects and - when armed - destroys these objects quickly.

Each device is powered by 5 photo-voltaic based systems each with a 100 giga joule capacitance, giving the orbital pod a 10 shot capacity deep field, and 5 shot capacity locally.

Recently, this technology was made more mobile in versions mounted to a nose cone on a Boeing 767 jet, with the tracking capability of multiple target interception and dispatch.

Ok but you did not say that we dont have rail guns all you said is why we dont have hand held rail guns.

That is right. There are some very powerful rail guns and lasers that make formidable weapons but that is because they have power supplies that are brought in on several trucks. This makes them viable for use on battle ships or for defending large ground assets where the size of the power installation is not a concern.

Here is an example of a real laser system used to shoot down incoming artillery shells. They don't show the power supply though, which is the size of a small hydro plant.

Here is an experimental rail gun about the caliber of a small cannon. It is tied into the main power grid for the area and even then it needs to collect that power (charge) for a while before firing.

Im pretty sure that if you pointed the laser that could light the match, you would probably burn your retinas. Thats just speculation though be good if dainoyfb would let us know for sure

The short answer is yes. In fact many consumer products such as CD players have infrared LED lasers in them. Many people that tinker with them do not realize that they have invisible beams that can be dangerous to look at. What they see is the dim secondary glow of the visible red emissions. Also, many of the low cost, high power green and blue laser diodes are dual stage. This means that an ultraviolet laser inside the diode package is used to power the laser. The radiation from the UV pumping laser is very powerful and because it is not at the focal point of the optics its illumination pattern is much wider than the visible beam. Many of the cheap laser diodes of this type emit dangerous amounts of invisible UV radiation in this fashion.

My question is this, not if we have them, but why have we not found out about them.

Mabey only good usage would be for earth invasion or war on another planet or moon.

MTHEL stands for Mobil Tactical High Energy Laser so i doubt that the power supply would be a small hydro plant. the fact that it has a tracking system on it for high speeds. Means that they could make a smaller unit that fires just a laser instead of having the tracker on it. Not sure how big it would come out to be but it would be interesting to find out.

Could this technology be used to target humans instead of a rocket?
