Psychiatry: an Industry of Death

I just found this documentary and it seems worthy of a thread on ATS methinks.
(I did a quick search and this has seemingly not been posted before, but if it has feel free to delete this duplicate.)

And apparently it is funded by Scientology:

Many psychiatry critics unaffiliated with Scientology endorse the commission's work, though it is heavily funded by Scientology and many of its staff are Scientologists. Few, meanwhile, are doctors, adds Mr. Kent, who caught the "Industry of Death" exhibit in California, where it debuted in 2005. "So, since it's ideologically driven, and most people at CCHR are not medically trained ... you don't know where the truth ends and the propaganda begins."

Im only 1 minute into this and already want this video on my website.I currently have schizo effective disorder,but as that girl said,first she had this then that and that is exactly what they do.
Mostly if ya see a psychiatrist with a bit of depression they will say,,bipolar,which I had also.

Thing is alot of people that have manic episodes get shoved in ICU and treated so badly,I think once your in their system its hard to get out,they drum into you that you must stay on the meds,,,and yeh maybe some should,but for every pill they dish out surely theres a natural remedy out there,,the pills they dish out are not good in my eyes.The anti-psychotic ones aint,they take voices away yeh,,but also can take your own thoughts away and you become a different person to that before you were took in their care.

The ratio of people in helpful therapy, to the people on medications, is very imbalanced.

As with most things, there are people who care out there, and want to conjure practical solutions to mental illness. But there are also people who just want to give you a pill.

I think what ADHD has done to children, is absolutely sick. There are misdiagnosed children out there, on AMPHETAMINES.

After watching the first 45 minutes of this video, I'm hooked and will have to view the rest when I have tme later.

The relationship of psychiatry to the establishment of institutions, beginning with 'Bedlam' for the prime purpose of government funding is indicative of everything the psuedo-science is based on today.

Following the advent of Eugenics, as an arm of psychatry, its involvement with racism and culmination in Hitlers Nazi Germany is quite an eye-opener for anyone interested in the subject.

When you see a psychiatrist today, they look into your face and see dollar signs. Excellent video.

The ending of that just made the whole movie seem like a commercial to justify CCHR.

Initially I had no clue it was sponsored by the church of Scientology,
but I didn't need to know that to catch on very early that it's heavily biased.
Usually, the music gives it away with these sort of documentaries; if they play Carmina Burana while screenshots of internet pages flash the screen you're in for a wild ride through conspiracy fear monger land.

However, imo the video does have more to offer than "Just church of $cientology propaganda"... especially for young people going through turbulent teenage years while left and right people tell them they have a disorder of some sort.

More people should flag this - everyone should know that this pharma industry is one big LIE.
And anyone who takes drugs should see these videos!!!

the truth is there is no such thing as mental ilness its a fraud to neuodegenerate people.
that is why the majority of medication infact causes braindamage and neurodegeneration.

how the menal health system is allowed to operate is beyond me,its all about torture and neurodegeneraion.

One of the biggest scams they are pushing really makes me mad.

A Police officer would expect for his job to see dead people, people dying, people shot occasionally...maybe have to shoot people once in awhile.
A Doctor/nurse would expect for their job to see dead people, people dying, oopsie kill some people occasionally.


So why are we now throwing Billions at Veterans for "PTSD". Police Officers experience the same thing and they don't stop working after 6 years and collect PTSD because they watched some junkie shoot their fellow officer. They have to keep working.

Death is a part of life, we all get to see. So why in the last few years have we started handing out Billions of Veterans Affairs money to people for PTSD?

And not using the money to treat Veterans with real physical injuries, real physical pain?

In the Vietnam War sure our 3rd Marines went into Vietnam and watched their fellow Marines brutally rape, murder, torture people...saw war...death....

They dealt with it without PTSD. Is Veterans Affairs throwing $$$$ at people for PTSD really TREATING anything? If PTSD is really a psychiatric disorder why don't they TREAT it by forcing those people to choke down drugs.....revoke their right to own firearms since they are mentally disabled...instead of just using it to throw money at people?

Psychiatry is a scam of scams. How can they declare that person has PTSD and is mentally defective enough to receive $2000 a month for Disability....but ohhhhh no he's still ok to own a gun.

People of any profession can get PTSD. It's a natural reaction to an unnatural occurrence. It all depends on the person. Everyone reacts differently. Some people just can't handle certain extremes as well as others.
PTSD is very real.

The scientology part is kind of disturbing and only serves to lessen the impact of the video, who is gonna take it seriously after all that crap in the end, conspiracy? Nah.. who knows.

But I do know that I don't trust psychiatry one bit from personal experience, and I've confirmed some of the things talked about in the movie through other research. As I see it it's definately a pseudoscience.

Yea but to be honest there are also those people that KNOW what they need and would much rather skip the toe tapping and beating around the bush drawn out discussions (as they had already been down that road way too many times and would rather be spared the dark memories in bringing it all back up again) and just get the pills. I know I have been one of 'em. Look I know what is wrong, and I know what has helped throughout years when I needed it...so just please prescribe the Valium/Xanax and I will be merrily on my way thank you very much

Not arguing in what may be considered right, or may be considered wrong here...it's not about that, it's about that there is a flip side to the contrary to what had been stated above in reference to the criticism towards the health professional. Just showing that there is a flip side in that there is also a need for doc's to just prescribe something when it is for a patient who KNOWS WHAT WORKS for his/her condition, is NOT ABUSING and/or selling their medications, and would rather skip the long and drawn out verbal assessment I guess that's all.
