After Three Months, Only 35 Subscriptions for Newsday's Web Site

In late October, Newsday, the Long Island daily that the Dolans bought for $650 million, put its web site, newsday.com, behind a pay wall. The paper was one of the first non-business newspapers to take the plunge by putting up a pay wall, so in media circles it has been followed with interest.

Hey Rupert, NYT? Read it and weep. Thirty-five subscribers after 3 months LOL. Your days are numbered. Maybe you ran news organizations 20 years ago but now you're running a propaganda press beholden to the elite. Guess what? No one's going to buy your crap rag anymore! You're done! Pack it up!

Your only hope is to make your website into a TV channel, and maybe the sheeple will put up with those commercials, but I sure as hell won't.

La-di-da! I'm so happy! Happy-happy-joy-joy!

ahahahah

I just went there and got my news for free.

But yeah. I'd recommend they just put some google ads around the website and make money through advertising... i mean 2.2 million people might click on an ad a lot of times. I'm not sure how much money they'd make, but i'm sure it would be more than the $9000 they did make with those 35 peoples subscriptions....

Otherwise, i guess they could sell off their website at a later date and hope to get more than thier $650 million they bought it for and $4 million they spent on redesign.
