Will Bush pull a Coolidge? - "I choose not to run."

I'm in the minority because I feel that it will be hard for Bush to not get re-elected. Its going to happen because of what Nixon referred to as the "silent majority" people who don't take an active role in politics but do vote consistantly. I'm predicting there will be a lot of closet Bush supporters, people that don't like him but have bought into the hype and think we are opening ourselves up for an attack without him.

Back on topic: I agree with a lot of the people above me. I want to change my vote from McCain/Powell as Reps. to the McCain/Guliani ticket. I honestly think they could run as a 3rd party and win.

If there ever was a silent majority, I would suggest most of mthem no longer vote because they're so disaffected from all the lies and BS over the years.

As anyone, "say the first word that comes to mind if I say POLITCIAN.

He too squandered his 15 minutes of fame by jumping on the "God wanted Bush" fundie track. He was not liked in NY.
Powell is no longer a viable political figure. Again he prostituted his morals & honor for the party. Specifically what he thought to be the party.
McCain as an Independent? Possible, but he's going to expose himself back to something that he lost a taste for. That's a wildcard , though.

Kerry with Edwards as VP? Landslide.
Kerry with McCain as VP? Landslide.
Kerry with ??? as VP? A win. In this last scenario, whomever is chosen will be a charming SOB; someone Ma & Pa bible thumper could think of as that nice neighbor boy grown up & gone to Washington.

You have no winning Republican ticket? No dream team son?

I've seen the people that I admired ( Peter King R-NY, Arlen Specter R-PA, Saxby Chambliss R-AL ) all swallow their pride & better judgement to toe the company line.
I've seen the GOP turn into utter fascists. If you were privy to the GOP Senate campaign in my state that Hillary Clinton won, you would have thought that you were in Germany during the Weimar years - that was the straw that broke my Centrist back & from that point I became Anti-Republican.
I've been saying for some time now: Where is the Republican Brutus to this Mad Ceasar!?!?!

I would vote for Mcain or Powel. or Both as a ticket in any capacity Republican, independant etc....

Bush must go period so if no other alternative comes up then Kerry it is for my vote =/.

I could see a Liberman/Mcain ticket as well.

Heck Id even vote for old Ross Perot vs the two clowns we have now. He is still alive right?

I must admit I helped put Bush in office and I live in Florida =/. So sorry for that...in so many ways.

I know from what you speak.

As matter of fact I do know a tad about your state�s politics.

Born there and raised a family in Manhattan. And have been active in Party politics since god knows when���. Retire a few years before the Hillary run though but still followed it from afar. (Rudy G. did make a good choice retiring from the race - Funny how things turn out. Now he�s a national figure popular enough to run in either party. Can�t say the same for the Hill)

The Republican Party has been co-opted by the wacko right wingnuts. They have driven out every moderate they could. It�s their way or the highway.

I see King at times choke on the words he must use from the daily faxed talking points when interviewed. (They even have a dress code.) It�s a shame. Now there is little moderating influence any more in the Party and they are going so far right that now they�re just a few miles west of Munich. It�s a real shame. We�ll never see any more Jacob K. Javits in the party.

Even here there is that form of pressure to conform to the party line.

I have this stalker who�s been following me around, interrupting my conversations, telling me how I should post and telling in I insulted someone I was talking to��..(funny the person I was talking with did not seem to thinks so)

Well the other day I told him to get lost using a mild form of New Yorkese being careful not to say �YOU ARE�����. Well. What does he/she do? Makes a complaint and I get docked 250 points; not once but twice.

So I can see if you�re in congress and don�t tow the line your district can lose millions��..

It�s scary and I don�t see it getting better too soon. Freedom of speech? What a joke!

What a scumbag. Did you see when he rushed her podium during a debate & Clinton flinched? Being in NY, I'm at the epicenter of women in positions of power. I can tell you that they all voted for Hillary or abstained after that incident....even the grand old dames of the GOP in NYC.

To think they didn't take Pete King & chose the neo-fascist Lazio over that him.

I met Lazio at a Club on the South Shore when he first started with the party. He was young and I thought was a jerk because of his age. It turns out it make have been genetic. I hear he�s giving g Mills advice on how to run against Schumer. That�s the kiss of death.
When I was in NYC I had to work with Schumer�s office. Met him at some rubber chicken fetes���.real nice guy.
But Rick����. For short notice, he did fill the space on the line so the Party didn�t loose the position on the ballot���.. gotta give him credit for that���

They should have chosen Pete King for Senate, I would have voted for him. But to tell you the truth, Hillary has been just like Chuck Shumer - an excellent Seanator for NY. Howard Mills is old upstate family trying to get into politics

Peter King would have given Shumer a run for the money and cut into NYC base..........The question is why did he not run.........any skinny on that?
