Well I for one think it would usher in a new era of human civilization. The conformation that we are not alone in the universe would have profound effects on the advancment of the scientific knowledge of our species and which directions research takes afterwards.

It would be philosophically and theologically revolutionary and again open up avenues which have not yet been explored (imagine studying an E.T. religion for example, fascinating!).

I think that the discovery/disclosure of that information would drastically alter society, the progress of our civilization and it's cultures and to think that it wouldn't, in my opinion, is a little naive.

The divided nature of the Human species would seem to indicate that our range responces will be equally divided. Saviors or fallen angels? both? neither? everything in between?

Humans have been pretty fail at accepting each other and the creatures on this planet, can you imagine our "Man is the measure of all things" attitude looking at another civilization? Oh boy, first we would have to get past shape, I mean can you imagine if the first people we encountered looked like some kind of spider, snake or octopus? Right away there would be a huge percentage of the population that would write them off a "evil" on looks alone. Now add in trying to understand their society?

To me at this stage of the game if Disclosure were to be a "Yah they are everywhere" scenario it would be because there is a threat of some sort. Otherwise disclosure will be baby steps till we have some semblance of unity.

Given how so many of us believe there has been a cover-up over aliens by TPTB from the beginnings of civilization through to the current day could we believe TPTB if they finally admitted the presence of aliens? Whether a remote signal from the darkest depths of the universe, or the presence of cattle mutilating abducting aliens they can do nothing about, or shape-shifting lizards, or any other form of alien life anyone may believe in, could we trust TPTB to be genuine in the disclosure OR would this be another smoke and mirrors exercise to distract us from genuine events happening in the real world, such as shifting magnetic poles, floods, earthquakes, disease, collapse of financial markets, depopulation strategies via forced medication programmes and so on?

We've seen with so many other events how TPTB manipulate the MSM to create fear, panic, and confusion to their own ends, the recent swine flu crime perpetrated on us, a scam to take several more billion dollars out of circulation into the greedy pockets of a handful of billionaires should convince most people of how we are so easily manipulated.

For most of us the biggest changes would the introduction of Alien Defense Taxes to combat the non-existent threats, and more MSM media stories convincing us to stay in our homes and to be afraid to complain about anything, and become more and more paranoid about our neighbours, friends, and families!

Sadly I don't think I would be convinced by the MSM announcing the existence of aliens, I wouldn't trust my own government to tell me my weight using my own scales so that's any announcement from the UK out of the question, if the President of the USA stood up and announced it was happening I'd just suspect it was all CGI'd together, if the Chinese announced the fact I'd be looking for bubbles on the screen, to be honest I think the only people I would trust would be a remote community in a third world county having shot a couple of aliens and taken control of their spacecraft and then were open to the highest bidders to buy the weapons and craft from the highest bidder, although in those circumstances I expect special forces would just take what they wanted and we'd never hear a thing about it.

Maybe disclosure wouldn't be in our interests, not because I deny the existence of aliens, I've believed since I was about 6, but more due to the increase in tax, fear, and increasing uncertainty in an already screwed over world.

TPTB? What's that? And if disclosure does in fact happen, I move for a suit against the very governments that withheld this information for years. "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." Well, my happiness would be in not being lied to by my own government. Unfortunately, this is the EXACT reason why I'm so miserable. Just kidding. :-D

Not you again! Get out you disinfo agent !

I am not a 'disinfo' agent. But I am level headed and sober-minded. I am trying to offer a realistic opinion. I feel that UFOs and Alien speculation is much closer to disinfo...

Here's the difference, as far as I can tell, from the disclosure threads that always seem to appear... and this one.

The OP lists not one, but several sources to back what he's saying. I bet if you go back to the other "disclosure" threads, you won't find that many sources.

The OP doesn't back up anything. He posts some random links and then suggests that these were a "planned effort to raise awareness about aliens". Without any evidence AT ALL.

Actually, as the number of articles connected to that alleged conspiracy increases, your conspiracy theory grows less and less likely. You think there are dozens and dozens of scientists and journalists all over the planet informed about some secret alien stuff, yet each and every of them doesn't feel inclined to reveal anything but instead writes the exact same random bull# that ufo fans have been pulling out of their arses since centuries? Get real.

There are 2 things in this present generation.

1. The return of Jesus Saga.

2. U.F.Os and aliens.

When you want to throw the truth away. How are you going to understand? Because you look to man for the answers. The truth about these strange beings and ufos has always been there but man can't figure it out. Because most of you have walked away from the truth, and there names are God and Jesus Christ. Now if fireballs fell from the heavens or your neighbors turned to stone you would find an explaination for that one to.

I find this interesting:

When President Obama walks into the Capitol on Wednesday to deliver his State of the Union speech, millions of American viewers will tune in. It is a unique moment for the President to address the public on a broad spectrum of issues, including economic recovery and job creation. Of course, many Americans will react to the speech with questions, comments, and concerns. From our live webstream to a free iPhone app, the White House is using technology to make sure the President's State of the Union Address reaches as many people as possible. Now we are excited to announce how President Obama will also be using the web to offer the public a direct and participatory way to communicate back to him. After the President's speech begins this Wednesday (1/27) at 9pm EST, anyone will be able to submit a follow-up question and vote on others at YouTube.com/CitizenTube. Then next week, the President will answer questions in a special online event, live from the White House. Don't miss the speech at 9pm EST on Wednesday night and the chance to follow-up with your questions. We look forward to hearing what you have to say.

It seems they really want literally EVERYONE to hear this speech worldwide...

Are you claiming you are convinced that President Obama will start "disclosure" at the State of the Union? How convinced are you?

Did you take the time to actually read any of the links, or are you just so disappointed that you never see disclosure you instantly feel the need to attack the possibility? Just a question.

The OP posted links to articles that while true they may say the same thing... but they are said from different people. Meaning that the message that science is seeking extra-terrestrial life is growing rapidly. You spend time on ATS so you're use to these threads. But think about the people who don't come to ATS. Who aren't use to reading 100 disclosure threads a month. These articles are opening their eyes to the possibility. It's a form of disclosure all on it's own, to be honest.

Also, some of the scientists or groups that are conducting these studies are getting a lot of publicity. I've seen articles on yahoo's front page. How many millions of people do you think see that and wake up to the possibility?

If scientist are doing this, I believe it's for a reason. Many governments around the world don't feel such a need to hide things from their people. USA is the worst of all. (and I believe some, if not most of it is due to their connection)

You say these disclosure threads are a dime a dozen. Maybe they are. But I have never witnessed a time in my life when so many scientists and articles were written publicly about disclosure. The OP took the time to gather up as many article links as he could. But I'm sure there are more.

Try not to be so cynical. I know we're all getting impatient, but the time is quickly approaching.

I'm not convinced, but i think that there is high chance it could happen. I mean, given everything that happened throughout 2009 until today. It was a bigger snowball of alien/ufo stuff then over the previous years altogether and considering that disclosure really is around the corner this time (not over night, but this year), i think the chances that Obama will mention today something are high enough. Hundreds of millions people will watch it live, plus it will be surely replayed many times and Obama will even do a live chat with listeners a week later regarding what he will speak tonight. He could be just discussing the past year, Health Care, Haiti, Terrorism, NASA funding...but i don't know. When will he have another speech that big? The ultimatum date for Disclosure is November 2010. It must happen before that... so i guess lets wait and see..

Would you like to put a number on that chance? From 1 to 10 how likely is it?

I'm prepared to claim that nothing regarding UFOs will be mentioned in the State of the Union. I'm willing to bet my membership here on ATS for it.

Blah blah blah. Those who are waiting for some goverment or news channel to tell them that aliens are real are sheep at the least.

Ill say this for what seem's like the 1,000,000 time. If you think that we are the only capable beings out there, you have lost your mind. Period end of story.

And if you think that you will get disclosure from any goverment that doesn't have something massive to gain from it? Again, you have lost your mind.

Sit around and wait for someone to tell you that aliens are real. You must be truely bored, they are real, get over it. We are aliens, we have robots crawling on mars but there is no such things as aliens visiting us?

LOL... WAKE UP! Seriously, wake the *** up.

To be honest, the only reason I am hoping for disclosure is for all the people who say we ARE alone in the universe. They all buy anything the government is selling. So if the government says it, maybe we'll find out much more about the aliens that are already here. Wouldn't it be awesome to read about alien history in school? A full disclosure could unleash unlimited possibilities.

Without it, the government will hide everything from us. If they allow it, so much more could be researched! It would be one of the most awesome events of our lifetime!

Understood, but if your talking about people that just blindly follow the goverment, I don't really care what they believe or not. What if the gov said "oh yea, btw.... uhhhh we just found out yesterday that aliens are real" would you believe them?

How about the fact that they have lied about 10000 other things? I suggest you don't believe jack *** they tell you and use your own mind for god's sake.

Want kids to learn the truth in school? Home school them... teach them what is real. Screw the gov and what they say or don't say.

Today or not today? wee don't know but I think, It will not be too far in the future.
Those who 'predict' never ever came along with a reasonable source, but kept talking about 'insider information', whatever that was.

Anyway, there are 2 reasons for a government to disclose. Either they are forced to do so, or they have something to gain.
Now we all believe, that disclosure would have a massive impact on economics wordlwide. So that can't be a reason.
ET forcing anyone to disclose? not very likely...
But in these times, where information technology is available to almost anyone, how long could the secret be kept?
Media are dealing with the topic in an fairly serious manner, countries are disclosing files about UFO's and people are becoming aware that technology has merely no limits (having said that, does anyone remember that in the early days of automotive people believed that speed above 30 kilometers/h would absolutely lethal??)

I believe most of us will see the day....
