Alert! Are you hearing odd noises in your area?

I have read several threads and posts about folks hearing odd, grumbling, thunder noises that were comming from underground. I think this is significant now because people in Texas were hearing these noises and Sunday the earth shifted and caused gaping crevices. When I read the article attached it clicked. OMG... Most of the posts I have read are from people who live in the west to the weastern coast line. Maybe yellowstone, the rumbeling noises underground and this Texas thing are linked. If I read this and lived in an area that I was hearing these noises in I would as we say around hear "get the hell out of Dodge", I think these things are warnings for something we may see more of and on a much bigger scale. I just thought it was worth mentioning. If the earth caves in out west maybe someone would have read this and moved away thus sparing a life. I am not trying to scare anyone but it looks to me like the writing is on the wall. I would do some research before I got to excited, but do not rely on the "offical" report of what this is because do you really think they are going to tell everyone the truth? No! They are going to say it is a rare landslide or oh it is no big deal just a bad retaining wall and well OK I would buy that but as pasted below why have these people been hearing underground noises? 2+2=4 .

"I would hear, laying in my bed at night, grumbling and vibrations. A few nails popped out lately," she said.

I agree to the extent that all eyes need go be on yellowstone and it is important to note that earthquakes have been occuring around the world more frequently lately, but the hills cracking and the ground moving that was mentioned in the article you attached were in all likliehood caused by the poorly constructed retaining wall...

Agreed, still does not explain the odd noises, vibrations or nails poping out of the walls days before a retaining wall collapsed. A retaining wall would not cause deep rumblings three years prior to collapsing. My theory is the retaining wall fell as a result of these things causing undue stress on it. And what about the many people reporting these same underground noises that have no retaining wall? Does not add up.

Yea I can see where u are coming from but I mean all that weight from the hill pushing downward on the retaining wall could slowly cause a failure in the wall, and if coupled with the ground settling beneath the houses some noises and deformation of the structures (creaking, nails popping out) could be accounted for. BUT if the noises are, as you say, from deep underground then it is not likely my explanation would hold true.

eeehh, I think your reading a little too deeply on this one, how do you know what a failing retaining wall will, or wont do ??

In any case, this sounds like an isolated incident.... and either way, seismic activity is fairly common. I live in CA, I'm not gonna go running for the hills for something explainable that happened in Texas.

My neighbours house has huge cracks all in the bottom level, been there for years. This does not mean the world is going to collapse. Shotty building.

But people should pay more attention to Yellowstone in general.

Yes many poorly built homes end up with cracks in the foundation and over time even well built homes do to, builders cannot always predict the ground setteling years after the building has been erected. I know a little about this kind of thing because my dad is a building specialist that built under contract for ther fedaral government in all 50 states, with over 40 years under his belt. When he was traveling I ran his office (he also owned a couple of residentail and commercail construction/ plumbing/ electrical businesses) for about three years plus when he was in town I would shadow him thus I learned a lot. I am not by any means saying I am a specalist just because my dad is. But because of my background and the threads in the western US about odd underground rumbelings it set alarms off for me. I do not expect anyone to go half cocked and move to the eastern side but it is worth looking in to. At least if it were me I would do some research. These are the facts.

Many people from the mid-west and on the west coast from Washington State to Southern Ca. are reporting odd thunder/rumbeling noises that have no explination in recent years.

Yellow Stone has been going nuts the last several months.

A retaining wall that has stood for years collapses in an area that these same type of noises are being heard.

All of this equals something. What? I am not certain but it is plausible that something ain't right in Kooderville. I think that alone none of these hold water but together I am seeing a picture develope.

I hear ya. Gotta investigate things but for the sake of the west coast let's hope this was isolated because it sounds to me like the developer that built the subdivision cut some corners and will have lawsuits filed against him since his actions have caused damage to these inhabitants' homes.
But as for the rumbling... If it's frequent and indeed seismc then by all means it could explain what's going on here, but without being there to hear it I cannot say

Absolutely. I too hope the problem is isolated and a result of a faulty contractor, cutting corners to earn more of a profit. It would certainly not surprise me at all, this is common practice. I just think it is note worthy and I hope some folks that are hearing these noises and posting threads asking if others in their area are hearing them read this and at least ponder it and do a little research.

I am not hearing odd noises from underground but picking up on changing tones in maybe the atmosphere or wherever the ringing originates.

I would describe it as similar to a humm like a fluorescent bulb might make but now I hear them with dashes or breaks in the tone. They don't last long, minute or two at most and then gone for a few hours and I hear it again. Random.

Maybe readers have some insight there.
