Last night I had an experience like one I've never had before.

The (real) night started with several drinks out on the town, so I'm assuming that the alcohol played some part in this dream. I got back from town, climbed into bed about 1am and quickly fell asleep. I think the following happened around 5am.

Although my lucidity in the dream was only a short period of time, this is what happened.

It began with me standing at my front door facing the street. Almost immediately. I knew I was dreaming. I actually acknowledged that I was having a lucid dream and wanted to make the most of it. As I knew that I may wake up at any time I wanted to test the water, see if it was JUST a lucid dream or something more, maybe an OBE. I went through my front gate and turned left, then immediately left into my neighbours front yard, I tried the door and it was open so I walked in. I looked around and was astonished by how vivid this dream was. The layout of the house wasn't how it should be but i've never been in there in real life so how could I be sure? I don't know why but I reached down and touched the carpet, I wanted to know how much detail was in the dream. To my surprise, it felt just like carpet.

There were pictures on the wall and they were of the couple that live there who I see often (but don't know well) at their wedding. By now I was starting to get a bit freaked out, there didn't seem to be anyone in but I was starting to question if it really was a dream or if I had actually broken into my neighbours. Then I thought what if this is a dream but my body is doing the same thing in real life, have i sleep walked into my neighbours house... I will be sectioned or arrested if I am!

Then the dream blurred away and I woke up.

I have a history of vivid dreams but this one outshines anything I have ever experienced.

I would be interested to hear of other peoples lucid dreams and if there is any way I can do it more often or prolong it when/ if it does happen again? To know you are dreaming and can do anything without consequences is something totally unbelievable when it is this vivid.

Has this ever happened to you?

I currently have a thread on this under paranormal. I think dreams are amazing!

Hi fiftyfifty

I have these types of dreams too, just the other night I dreampt I was at work and was in some sort of trouble and a colleague was trying to give me a telling off, it was so real I questioned wether or not I was actually dreaming. Funny you should mention the alcohol part, my dreams always seem to be either when i've had a few beers or if i've had a real gut full, I tend to have my weird/lucid dreams the following night. The next time you have one of these dreams, try some magic .. sounds strange but you're in control, conjour up something, fly, anything. Happy dreaming

Congrats!! I always lucid dream for some reason. Ever since I was younger I always could interact in my dreams and just feel like I'm going down a worm hole into another dimension. If you have more Lucid dreams you'll notice some might be weird, pleasant, happy, sad, just whatever. Lucid dream is pretty much one of best gifts a person can have in life!!

I used to have lucid dreams when I was younger.. Not anymore though

But I remember one dream, where I was talking to Jennifer Aniston and telling her, "quick give me your number I'm gonna wake up any moment!!"

Since being on Above Top Secret and learning of SP, vivid dreams etc. I have experienced them. Lately I have been able to manipulate my dreams & become conscious within them albeit a bit confused
I can never remember to go exploring whenever my dream takes place in my house

Trying something out of the ordinary sounds like an exciting idea! I hadn't thought of that.

It almost feels like I've unlocked a really cool cheat on a game or something. I just want to get back in now! I've a feeling It'll be a while though until it happens again.

It is always frustrating when you have the money (or Jennifer Aniston) type dreams and then you wake up in the real world.

Someone has another thread going about whether we need to sleep or not and would we give it up if we could... my answer to that is Hell no! Dreaming is one of life's greatest gifts!

I have a friend, he's never lucid dreamed, and thinks everyone that has is crazy! I have many times, but it was so hard to convince him they were real! (in a sense you could have one) he was too hard headed, and maybe a bit scared to take notion that you could be conscious while unconscious.

After reading a book that talked about lucidity, the author gave me some pointers on prolonging lucid dreams. And now every time I have a lucid dream I do the same thing - Run!

Or constantly keep moving, and really never wait around to see what happens (unless that's your goal) but for fun's sake (because they are fun!) you can prolong a lucid dream by movement. I don't know if this has to do with raising blood flow subconsciously so that certain neurochemicals don't allow you to wake up so fast - I don't know, but Lucid dreaming fascinates everyone that experiences, I don't care who you are!

I have always been able to lucid dream. If you wake up during one concentrate on the dream and try to fall back asleep. Many time you will be able to re-enter the dream.

Thanks for the suggestions. Last night was unsuccessful on the lucid dreams although I did have a very surreal vivid dream - won't go into detail though!

Next time it happens I will be sure to try and remember these suggestions and try to keep moving.

When the dream faded out, I can remember trying to fight it and stay in the dream but it didn't work. Another thing that is interesting is the vividity (if that's a word) it was not like a thought deep inside my head, it was like a bright colour video being projected onto the back of my eyelids.

Very true, i love dreaming and couldn't imagine life without them. I wrote in another thread a while back about a couple of lucid dreams where i did "magic" if you will, i was trying to convince my family that it wasn't 1988 and it was my dream, anyway i ended up producing a dog out of nowhere. I once gave all the people in my dream a code word and rang them up the next day to see if they knew what i was talking about .. ha ha .. no luck ! Let us know if you have any more experiences .. good luck !!
