According to my resident paleontologist/archeologist...after asking about a dozen questions I wasn't able to answer about dating, where it was found,
etc.:
First impression: "They look like oars, not any kind of bone that I've ever seen. Is he sure they're bone?"
Second impression after zooming in: "Might be whale jawbone or rib, carved into oars by the locals."
Third comment after realizing that the object shown for scale is a
coin: "...no idea, but they appear to be carved, so without more
information it's going to be difficult to identify them."
...
Neither of us recognize the coin, so we're just guessing on size...they're what, about 1x3 inches or so? Could be anything, really.
