I can see why you may think so. Since the Site and forums are neutral they can go either way very heavily depending on who is contributing to the topic at hand. So from a casual observance it may appear to be totally biased in one direction or another.

Great question.

I think everyone may have a pet peeve here and there on some of the T&C but... nothing political and nothing in the way of a disqualifier.

As someone who, as rule, dislikes political babbling and partisan grandstanding, I can tell you that you won't find that coming from the mods or those on ATS Olympus.

But that being said, there are the political boards where cesspool aquatics are a regular sport.

The last time I checked, ATS was not registered as a not-for-profit organization. As a result, I believe that ATS is motivated by profits, not politics. It's called free enterprise, and business owners know that being biased for or against approximately 50% of your potential customers is not the way to increase profits, at least in this business.

...or...you'll come back, a returning Banned Member, who believes ATS sucks yet can't keep away...coupled with the obliviousness to the fact you can't stay within the T&Cs - but then thats all ATS's fault.

Banned once more.

just for fun though ... lets say they're all from the states. what percentage of the mods would be democrats? and what percentage would be republicans or otherwise?

i reckon 80% dems and 20 or less republicans.

Interesting -- I would have said that there are probably more Republicans than Democrats among the American mods, with a lot of Libertarians and Independents thrown in -- as much as a third.

But that's just a wild guess. It may all be a matter of perspective

I agree. That would be my assessment also.

I don't feel that ATS is politically motivated, although I do see quite a few heated subjects in that arena, I feel that there are a lot of adult members here like myself who prefer the alternative subjects rather than political. Most of the time the threads I participate in are not debate type threads, they are threads that ask opinion, or present an interesting subject to ponder.

I think not, even though FSME stands for Feminist Social Marxist Elites and I have spread the Marxist doctrine to many members. Conservatives, I have a 100% success rate. You'll be reading Das Kapital and singing the Red Flag in no time

The people's flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyr'd dead
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts' blood dyed its ev'ry fold.
Then raise the scarlet standard high,
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here

What a goofy question. The content of the website is member driven. If the members drive the conversation to politics, then that's what you'll see. It's a site with a global reach. If Tip O'Neill's famous line, "All politics is local" is correct, it would make it a little difficult for the site itself to have a political agenda, wouldn't it?

Based upon my observation over a fairly long period, I think the site's motivation is to provide a venue for discussion. Of course, drawing from a pool of people who have a significant number of conspiracy theorists among them, I guess having people who look for an underlying motive shouldn't be surprising.

You should know, threads like this pop up like crocuses in the spring. It's Been Done, baby.

Sshhh,

don't tell anyone, but according to some posts I've read, ATS is a CIA cointel programme, being run for the benefit of NWO.

It may be a concidence, but this usually appeasr after a warn has been applied or a post removed.

As FSME for the New World Order, I'm also the regional NWO leader here at ATS. CIA operative is my real identity. All your base belongs to me.

Let's just say that some of the members are politically motivated. Having been an ATS member for four plus years, and staff for much less than that, I've come to the conclusion that there's not a political theory, sound or otherwise, that hasn't graced our site... Which is, of course, what its supposed to be... How boring would it be if we all thought alike...

Rubbish. ATS promotes Free Hugs and all associated warm fuzziness.

I personally saw intrepid and Simon, among many other mods and supers giving out free hugs not 3 months ago.

I only rat you guys out because I never got my hug.

Peace
Sad hugless KJ

I searched this topic out and I can say "YES" it is. But on the micro level not the macro level. I actually started a thread about who watches the mods and they pulled my thread I did not even put names in it.

The persons who watch the mods are the administrators of ATS.

They are:

The Above Network, LLC
CEO: Bill "SkepticOverlord"
COO: Mark "Springer"
CPO: SimonGray
CFO: Stephen "Crakeur"

Administrators
Lead Admin: William One Sac
Admin: 12m8keall2c
Admin: Djarums

Sending a message to any one of them is quite simple. Just go to the Board Page and scroll down about halfway. You will see them on the left. Each one of their names are clickable and you can send a U2U to them if you feel you have been wronged by a moderator.

Also, you can click on the moderator him or herself and discuss the issue personally.

I'd advise that path first, though.
