bbc connections 1, scandanavian airlines flight 911

during the mid 60's east coast blackout, serialized in james burke's brilliant little series, scan. flight 911 is barreling in past kennedy airport towards manhattan and not seeing its radar beacons.

shots of the panicking pilots and guess what? a blackened harbourfront view of the wtc complex..

the pilots pull away and the day is saved, but it is a troubling sequence to watch, even if it is only coincidence.

the entire segment is very good, and seems bizarrely symbolic for more than that reason. birthday party in the subway..baby delivered in the dark..
