Before elections their ruling party was very pro-american and there were many signals that US and India can be close allies. As I remember US is the largest Indian trading partner.Do you know somethig about their new government and whether they are still interested in strategic partnership or not??I heard something about possible coalition with communist party.I suppose (even Indian)
) that communist don't like such ideas

This might help you with what you heard. If they do switch, it'll be slow, not fast.

...and there is some info about this problem.As I thought communists had own vision of relationships with some countries.the point of that article is Israel.But if they said something about israel I'm sure that thay have similiar opinion about USA.

But it's all about communists,and I still don't know anything about foreign policy that is presented by ruling party and how do they see future cooperation.I tried to fined something and I didn't find anything special

VERY GOOD NEWS!!!!
))

i found this articles today,they are from "hindu" newspaper so I suppose it could be a credible source

www.hindu.com...

it's very good,I suppose that India should be a major US ally in asia
)

and look at this part of article :

"The DPG meeting takes place weeks after officials met under the aegis of the Security Cooperation Group to discuss the sale of American military equipment. The previous Vajpayee Government had concluded the largest-ever military deal with the U.S. for purchasing refurbished artillery-locating radars. The Defence Ministry is now preparing to strike a second multi-million dollar deal for acquiring second-hand planes with the ability to detect submarines.

The Chief of Naval Staff had expressed the need to add to the depleted and ageing fleet of Russian maritime reconnaissance planes. It appears that after weighing the option of modernising the existing fleet, the defence establishment is in favour of purchasing the American planes, provided the final price is mutually acceptable"
