Our accent is interesting and goes from one extreme to the other across the country Michael Mcintyre on his latest DVD (www.michaelmcintyre.co.uk...) does a very funny sketch about our accents... funny, when I go to America I try to mask my accent...

Just remember my UK friends. When driving in slippery conditions spinning wheels are bad, use a low gear and steer into any skids and don't lock up the brakes when you slide. You need spinning wheels to steer.

I don't mean to sound condescending just some tips for those not accustomed to the white stuff.

Just got back today, great conditions but the weather may change over the weekend but the snow will be heavy up on the upper runs.

We had Sky broadscasting from this corner and we only got down to -2, you;d think they would broadcast somewhere colder.. however the good news (for me at least) Harveys Brewery is still in productions, and the beer deliveries have not stopped

Sweet photo. I wish I could find one of the US. I swear it is harder than heck to find one.

Anyway, I did find the snow cover map that kind of shows a huge coverage of snow. I do not ever remember it being this extensive before.

Im so not prepared for this. theres no way my car can get out of my villiage, the nearest shop is a 3 mile walk. I'm down to tinned soup, oven chips and pickled onions. I've been rationing mince pies to see me through.

Very good advice... the amount of cars you see carrying to much speed at junctions and simply sliding into the car in-front is well, quite frightening. Many in the UK simply dont know how to deal with it.

I was fortunate to have some skid-pan training and it was very useful. It should be part of L driving.

I'm shocked how hard it is to find bread and milk around my town...

I only hope that if this becomes the 'norm' then we go down the route of getting winter tyres like our American and Canadian friends. I did ask at my local garage and he said currently they cost much, much more so something would have to happen before us Brits part with cash....
