Before Dems Avoid Reelection, Do They Go Out with a Vengeance?

While two Senate Democrats already have seen the handwriting on the wall and bailed out of re-election races, five others trail Republicans in states where President Obama and his trillion-dollar health-care-reform plan are increasingly unpopular.

Initially, I didn't think many Dems would realize their political futures are actually in question and would consider opting out of future campaigns, knowing they would not be elected. But now it appears the message has become clear-as-day.

So...does this mean the Dems have less than a year to ram the most devastating legislation through Congress that they possibly can?

Health care?
Cap and trade?
Environmental controls?
Agricultural regulations?
Excessive bailouts?

Or, is this just my conspiratorial-based mind flourishing?

Voters are pretty fickle and stupid. In the past Dodd has always banked on that fact and as long as he laid low for a couple of months before the election whatever awful thing he did that term was forgotten.

Most voters will have either forgotten all about their outrage by the time of election or have replaced that outrage with petty partisan line voting and the incumbents will be reelected.

It takes a massive amount of continuous screw-ups to be ousted.

Now, Dodd wont be running again. Whether it's because he knows he screwed up that much or because he generally wishes to retire only he knows. Local news polls in CT show Dodd screwed up. But then the election is a ways off. did he really screw up that bad?

Same goes for the others.

We'll never know.

The bribe check to him has had time to clear.
Why should he keep on working, He knows that was his last chance to get that kind of cash.
Hopefully the others who committed the same crimes along with him and those to set up the crimes still wind up in jail.

They know incumbent hate is really high. So how to they keep the seats D?

You are spot on. The elections have become solely about two letters competing for the same seat. The people have been left swinging in the breeze.

Dodd steps down and puts a fresh new face on the Letter D. Subsequently, slashing the chances of a viable candidate from the land of R who is looking to cash in on the utter corruption and malfeasance of Dodd.
