Massive oil spill threatens China's supplies

A massive oil spill into the Yellow River in central China is threatening the drinking water of towns and cities.

Last Wednesday 150,000 litres of diesel oil spilled out of a ruptured pipeline and into two tributaries of the Yellow River.

The contamination, which for days went unreported, has since spread through three provinces and reached Henan's Sanmenxia Reservoir.

Several towns have been told not to use water from the river and major cities downstream are preparing alternative water supplies.

The fear of an oil or chemical spill contaminating the river was voiced early during the building of the Three Gorges project, this spill only amplifies the potential for damages on a scale not seen in the western world.

The concept of "alternative supplies" is laughable at best, when water was diverted for the Olympics whole areas around Beijing were left without water.

So does anyone care to explain how China is going to be the new superpower in the short future?

To me it looks like they have some major issues to grapple with.

When you look at these types of problems and realize the growing exponential nature of the List of problems accumulating it depicts a challenging situation for engineers.

But rather than following the obvious short cut, depopulation, there is another road which may be longer but it requires honesty and integrity among the world leaders to accomplish.

If our leaders could only see the potential of our engineers and technicians, they would realize quickly that these overpopulation issues can be solved through the use of advanced clean technologies.

Rather than the blood soaked archaic technologies from the barbarian ages.
