Attention Seekers for the 'bin' - metaphorically speaking

As for being on the receiving end of stars and flags, i think for many it registers as a sign of appreciation or agreement... and/or for others it serves as a gauge on how well they are serving the community (satisfying the administration's goals/desired-results for the site)... and for others it's just a game, no different then keeping score on any video game.
