Biodynamics began with a series of lectures in June of 1924 by the Austrian occult philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Steiner had a vitalist vision of the universe in which “ethereal” qualities infuse raw matter in order to give it life; this distinguishes living things from mere amalgamations of chemicals, however complex. The potential conflict with modern biochemistry should be clear.

Biodynamics is coming up alot in conversation lately. Everything from meat to vegetables to wine is being sold with the biodynamic label. But what is really going on?

Bacially Steiner developed this concept out of thin air, without any research or facts to back up his claims. Most research today shows that little if any of Steiner's ideas actually have any effect at all yet the brand remains strong and growing.

I have to admit its a great name - maybe Steiner should have become a NY add man.. anyway I wanted to get an opinion here from ATS members on what they think about this concept. Please weigh in with your thoughts..

I would say this is about on par for the marketing course.
Pseudoscience in the US makes billions every year, so why should this be any different?

In the end smart people like us will not fall for the marketing ploys, but that means nothing since the gullible fatA$$ populace will.
