According to multiple sources, it looks like the Mayon Volcano, located in Phillipines, is about to errupt.

Strangely, this could be happening today (December 21th 2009). This is the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (summer solstice in southern hemisphere).

Could all those apocalyptic predictions about December 21th 2012 be real ? Could this be a precusory sign ? Or is this just another coincidence ?

Here is the link for a Fox News article: Fox News Article

Today is 20 12 09

perhaps THIS is the start of the 2012 year predictions. I think this because even the mayan grand elder said there is no exact date for the next cycle to begin. Also that would mean that 3 years from today would be the "official" end of the world. The power of 3 is very powerful right? Also maybe the next cycle means we need to evolve out of this one, this could very well be the start of the end of this cycle!!

Oh no!!! more of those eeeeeeeevil greenhouse gases. Quick, how can we blame this on man?
Okey sarcasm over serious side now.
I never thought of that the 2012 connection, strange. Just wondering if she's going go go with a huge bang or just clearing her throat before she goes back to rest? Thankfully they've got most of the people out of there.

I didn't read the linked article yet, but is this a newly active volcano? Is it a significant eruption other than the date? Volcanic eruptions in the region are common, so this doesn't seem particularly significant unless I am missing something.

Nah, Mayon Volcano is one of the most active in the world.

Nothing unusual here ... hopefully the folks near it evacuate and stay safe.

Well it is the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere so it would not surprise me to see increased volcanic and earthquake activity this week.

Very few men are worth putting your faith in and the ones who are seem to shun having great authority. "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Volcanos are awsome and Dec is an active month. Remember the Christmas tsunami? The Mayan aren't the only prophets afoot. Isaiah 24:20 talks of Earth events that will make the Earth reel like a drunkard. But, more to the point is this question: If the Earth is cooling, why would it erupt. If I have anything on my stove, it only "erupts" if I add heat. Mayon is erupting duing the summer, not during cooling. And if the crust is cooling, why isn't the core also?

I think what your looking for is this. With the eruptions, ash and other junk is thrown into the air blocking sun light and the suns heat after awhile it'll start to cool down.

No, I was wondering why the magma expands to create an eruption. If the core radiates heat to the oceans, they should trandfer heat to the atmosphere. No eruption should be necessary
