I have been a reader of ATS for 'bout 2 years now and this is my first post.

I think I figures out the whole reason for the BS that is passing in congress. We are being "Nudged" to vote out incumbents and vote in new people. I mean look at how many people voted democrat because "I can't vote for a republican" and then on the simple premise of get him out now look what we have. now when we are looking at replacing a good chunk of congress things could get worse. I am not saying don't get them out all I am saying is know who you are getting in.

No with every action there are consequences. TPTB want health care passed no matter what because it sets the infrastructure up to micro manage our lives. Getting their minions kicked out is just a consequence of that goal.

then why was universal health care not passed when Roosevelt or Clinton tried to push it? Also I am not referring to the health care bill exclusively. I am talking 'bout all the bills with little to no support from the people.

It doesn't make sense, to me anyway, that TPTB would want us to vote out their current cronies. Better to deal with the devil you know.

If the obvious replacements would all be from one political party, such as Republican, than perhaps I could see your point. However, voting out current members in no way guarantees a win for Republicans. Rather, I think Independents and Green Party candidates will receive a larger-than-normal share of the vote. And if there is a political party that I believe is not influenced / controlled by TPTB it is those people within the fringe parties.

The Democrats have been so focused on bashing Republicans that they did so without thought to the fact that that alone does not guarantee their jobs. They seem to have missed where the American public's general view of poltical parties is shifting.

Obama has made so many moves that are Bush-like, many are left wondering where exactly the dividing line between parties really lies.

Frankly, if things continue down their current path, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mickey Mouse acquire more votes than traditional candidates.

that Micky Mouse comment is what I am talking about, most people will just make uninformed/misinformed votes.

I'm in VA and I can tell you the political winds are changing. We were once a pretty solid RED state but the last two gov were both democrats. (Mark Warner & Tim Kaine). Republican Bob McDonnell just beat democrat Creigh Deeds in a blowout landslide election for gov. It wasn't even close. As you know, Obama carried VA and both Mark Warner and Jim Webb are democrat senators. Somehow, VA went blue, but I digress.

We are obviously witnessing the beginning of a nationwide voter backlash. What's not clear to me is if it will be directed towards incumbents (like OP has suggested) or just any democrat in power, particularly those residing in RED states.

I disagree that we are being "nudged" to vote out incumbents. I think it's just the collective consciousness of people who are simply waking up and realizing that it's not a good idea to give one party an unstoppable majority in congress. Without the checks and balances of the minority party, the majority can run roughshod over the country, as we are now witnessing as unpopular legislation is being rammed through.

Voters got drunk on Obama kool-aid and are now waking up with a terrible hangover as they now realize they swept into power a bunch of leftist children. Meanwhile, the liberals in congress are drunk with power and are boldly playing their marxist/socialist hands and the people don't like what they are seeing. It's that simple. The people are pissed about Health Care, bailouts, and reckless spending as far as the eye can see. It's almost like democrats don't care about the 2010 and 2012 elections. Why is that? Do they know something that we don't know? Are they that stupid to risk sacrificing their own jobs just to ram through unpopular legislation? The very last thing any politician wants is to be voted out of office.

What are they really up to?

what is to stop TPTB from flooding the ballots with people they want that can and will promise all sorts of sliver linings and pull an Obama and fail on every last one of them wail the people rejoice in what they have done. Then like Obamas will realize what they have done when it is to late. Don't forget most people are not that bright.

As long as they can pass a polygraph examination, I see no reason to prevent incumbants from serving. but they must pass a polygraph that
states:

Have you served the citizens of this nation with Honesty and Integrety.
and if you cant pass. you cant serve.

These politicianse would have no problem passing a polygraph. When asked the quesion

Have you served the citizens of this nation with Honesty and Integrety.?

When they answer "YES" they would in their mind be thinking of their cronies and they have been serving them very well.

They don't think of taxpayers as citizens any more than a dairy farmer thinks of the cows on the line as part of the farm 'family' when he makes a choice to purchase a new truck/widescreen/computer etc. for the farm. The cows are by their contribution paying for the high end item but they won't ever benefit from it and the farmer doesn't ever consider their opinion. (I'm sure the cows would like a bigger pasture to graze in so their choice would be to purchase more fenceline not a TV)

Nor does 99.999% of the elected officials (.001% was for the R. Pauls in the world)

How about this for a better yardstick of integrity. Did the politicion in question make or do anything (that the average person would pay for) that would allow him/her to live as well as they do in office.
If the answer is NO vote the B@st@rds out- they are on the take.

I think also every politician should on the same day have an audit (Hire ex IRS agents- They know what to lok for) to see just how they came by their wealth/ability to live their lifestyle.

This sounds very simuliar to telling a Christian "Well, the DEVIL wants you to do ____" with predictable results expected.
