Well, with almost 9,000 points you can't really do too much. Just wait until you get 10,000 points so you can be OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAND!

*Shoots self*

If it's an Islay single malt, I'm in.

As for Whine Flu and the 12,981 points accumulated, back to work....

Let's get a Super Mod in here that can start a death pool, some sports betting, or maybe a buy in on when we discover life off our planet.

I'd even throw a couple G at when the next volcano will blow, or when and where an earthquake will happen.

For every point you make, you become one step closer towards knowing
THE TRUTH.

ATS should allow us to cash them in for a T-shirt, Hat or poster of our favorite alien

There is a commercial for the Ga Lottery... on guy gives another guy a box of cash. The other guy sniffs the money and determines that it was the same $750.000 he gave to the first guy, last year.

So, like on the Flying Dutchman in Pirates of the Caribbean, maybe the local PTB will let us gamble with them?

Five 5s....

I was just going to say that.

You never see ATS giving back to the members do you? All the money they have made over the years for advertising, not a single t-shirt, keytag, or coffee mug. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Seems kinda selfish if you ask me. Then again, nobody asked me.

You mean other that a free forum/venue where we can exchange our thoughts and ideas?
You mean other than keeping this place clean and civil?
Server space, financial risks/investment, upkeep ...
Endless volunteer man hours from mods and admin ...
Free podcasts ...
Free image/video upload space ...
ATS news ...
And countless other cool and interesting features.

ALL at $0 cost to you and I.

And for all that, all they do is get endless complaining, whining, and grief from members who are constantly accusing them of everything from being CIA to holding back t-shirts.

What else is it exactly that you want?

Buy your own damn t-shirt!

Why should ATS staff members give back to the members?

Thats awfully rude

They give us plenty here, free video, interesting topics with a wide view range of members, and most importantly BTS where one can escape from the paranoia of the site

In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to distribute the majority of my 100k+ points to those less fortunate than myself. I also have half a case of cans of tuna and some parmesian cheese I could also donate.

That's total BS.

That's your opinion of course.

I have lots of points and nothing to do with them.

Do you have any more respect for me than an other member ?
No.......

Well to be honest I have not looked at your profile and rarely if ever see you on the boards so I wouldn't know.

The point system lost it's value as the boards evolved over time.

That I will agree with, but for another reason. Since the implementation of the "flag contribution level", "contributor level", and "applause level" points have kind of become an obsolete way to judge a members positive contributions to ATS. Most of the time you will know these members without having to look at their profile or even the contribution level on the avatars anyways. However, generally when a member has a high applause count (say over 60), high flag count (say over 1700), and a lot of points and stars then they usually will have something insightful or interesting to say. I am not the only one who thinks this either...

I'm no better because I have more applause.
I'm no better because I have more posts.

Again, I disagree. Generally members who have more applauses are MUCH more contributing than members with little or none. Keep in mind ONLY staff and FSMEs can give applause. Same goes for flags, stars, and somewhat for post count, the more a member has usually means they are a much greater asset to ATS than those who have little or none.

While every member is important in their own individual 'niche' (ie; more of a reader/lurker, major contributor, rarely makes threads but posts a lot, etc) there is a clear separation between the different types. While a small amount of ATS members seem to deny this and constantly have issues acknowledging it, it is true. This is why you have certain members looked up to by other members. As much as some on ATS would like to think "no one is a better member than the other", it is not like that.

Now do not confuse what I am saying here. I am NOT saying that as PEOPLE certain members are better than others, nor am I claiming that the members who do not contribute a lot or have many applause or points are worthless to this site.

All I am doing is pointing out the factual situation that some members contribute MUCH more than others, some members know more than others, and finally some members WORK more than others to contribute great work to this wonderful site.

Just do your thing on ATS and don't worry about the members that keep track of such things.

Well said and I can agree with that, and trust me I don't.

Never sweat the small stuff...........
